DON'T PANIC!

This is the new map thread for nations to use, since the application system has now changed. Already got a nation on the map? You don't need to do anything. New member? Here's what you need to do:

See a numbered plot in the orangey-beige area? Well, you just post in this thread, to tell me you'd like that lot- remember to give the number! Then, you need to give me your topographical information. Read this very carefully and then give me the required info. If you want to give me a free-hand over its geography, you can say so. I won't add you to the map if you fail to give me all the necessary information! It takes just 58 seconds to give me the right info.

If you want an island nation, you're more than welcome! Remember: you still need to give me the correct info.

Please remember that rivers start inland and end in the sea or in a lake; they do not start in the sea at all. 

N.B.

I, Avaerilon, as the cartographer, will attempt to produce an approximation of any information supplied, via written instructions, images, or any other format. I will make alterations where I deem necessary, including but not limited to reducing size, removing cities, changing borders, removing requested features not permitted, etc..

This map was created by Michutopia, and later edited by NAR, and then by myself, before being laid to rest. This was the final version of the "old-style" map used by the region, which was replaced in my first term as DA.


Travel a little further back to the final version edited by NAR,who carried the torch after Michutopia went inactive, and ensured the map was updated and cared-for. 

And let's go pre-historic!This was the first ever map created for the region by Michutopia. These small beginnings laid part of the foundation for what we have now.

This was the pre-NAR map,which Michutopia updated until such a time as he was unable to do so. It was the first official map of our region.

A suggestion, shouldn't you clear out the nations that ceased to exist (For a while, probably) and nations that left the SLU... To add more room for new nations and such.

Hi Avaerilon,
I'd like to be added to the regional map if possible! My nation is Garondy.
Here are my directions, hope they make sense.

Where in the region you'd like your nation to be located: plot #4 please.

Where your capital city is: inland and a bit southeast of the head of the large inlet on the west coast.

Where, if you like, your major cities (up to 7) are located: 1- inland of the midpoint of the western inlet's north shore, 0.25 of the distance to the northern border; 2- south coast of the inlet where coastline abruptly changes from east-west to north-south; 3- due south of the capital half way to the southern coast; 4- on the curved bay north of the westernmost promontory; 5- a little inland of the slight bump in the long stretch of southern coastline; 6- midway between the boundaries of Zmon and Plot 5 due north of where the river exits Zmon; 7- due north of Zmon-Garondy border at the coast, 2/3 of the way to the border with Plot 5.

If you have a metropolis area (those large red areas with the black squares and/or circles within): none

If you have any rivers, and if so, where they are: River (A) at Zmon border, passes through cities 6 and 7 and continues parallel to the border with Plot 5 generally in a WNW direction with several tributaries entering from the north and northwest; River (B) flowing into western inlet with branches at Capital city, one branch flowing south then curving west at City 3 to near southwestern tip of Garondy and other branch flowing generally southeast 3/4 of the way to the southern coast.

If you have any mountains, and if so, where they are: range stretching along the entire northern border; range close to and parallel with the southern coast from the southwest tip to near city 5; along the north coast of the headland forming the southern shore of the major west coast inlet; and on the westernmost promontory.

If you have any woodland or forest, and if so, where that is
The following types of woodland or forest are shown on the map:

Deciduous (trees that lose their leaves in winter- e.g. oak, sycamore, birch): in the southern and western mountains and westernmost third of River A's basin in central-north Garondy.

Coniferous (trees that stay green throughout- e.g. pines): in the northern mountains north of River A and along the Zmon border.

Tropical (trees that are comparable to those found in places such as the Amazon): none
Mediterranean (foliage, including scrub and herbs, that would be found along Southern Europe): none

Greetings to the Minister of Domestic Affairs, Avaerilon.

I would like to formally claim plot #33 for My Nation, Hurr-Durristan.
I would like my capital city located on the small peninsula in the north-west section of the country, and place one more city in the south-west, located just off of the border. 
I would like to place a river running from the Nordic Republics, the north of my country, to the peninsula that my capital city is located on.
I would also like to extend the mountain range in the north of the country so that it surrounds the new river.
I would like to extend the coniferous forest for the south of the country and cover the eastern part of the country.
Finally I would like to extend the Mediterranean foliage from the north, but only so it covers the very northern part of the country.

In case any of this was confusing I have quickly put together a version of the map.  :)

I just noticed something; that's an older version of the map.

This one was the last one I edited. Also, this was the first map ever created, by Michutopia,

and this was the official map created by Michutopia that he edited until I revised the map.

Hi! I'm The Democratic Socialists of New Differentia. After being a member of the region for a while I've decided to delve into the forum, and I'll start here :)

• I think I'd like Plot #29 if that's possible.
• My capital city is a bit northwest of the number 29 on the image, if that makes sense. Like if you think of the northwest part of the plot as an upside-down triangle, it'd be on the right side of the triangle.
  
• Can you make a metropolis area in the the middle of the plot's coast?
• In terms of everything else, I'd like 3 other "major cities" put wherever you deem visually appealing. I also leave the topography with the rivers, woodland, and mountains up to you. Not too many mountains though.

Is this enough information?

@shwalandia: Great! Did you have trouble with the map tutorial?

I understood the tutorial but since my plot was an odd shape with lots of peninsulas and pieces of land jutting out  I wasn't sure if I would be able to communicate clearly where everything was using words, so I used a picture instead.  If it would be better for you for me to write everything up I will  be happy to do so though!   ;)

I'm The People's Republic of Cygninia and I'd like plot number 27, please. Cygninia has a lot of rain forests around its border and a few small woodland areas around the center. It has a capital city down the bottom area, and about 4 major cities at the top. There are many rivers and a mountain range along the left border.

I hope this is enough information!

Could I have plot 23?

Capital City: Gnomen City, right on the upper western border.
Other major cities: Liberistan (dead center), Darona (Very bottom), Craftania (Lower western border)
Metropolis areas are all the major cities and capital.
One river running down the western border, running alongside Gnomen City and Craftania. Named Abrio River, if that is necessary.
Mountains dot the eastern side of the nation
Decidious forests along the center, with Darona in the center of the forest. Some Coniferous forests are along the bottom.
