Delegate voting - Period May/ June 2017 Until Sep/Oct '17

[Election Administrator]

As per Articles 5 and 8 of the Third Constitution of the SLU, a vote has been called to elect a delegate for a period of four (4) months.

Voting shall commence at 00:00 GMT on Tuesday the Thirtieth (30th) of May Two Thousand and Seventeen (2017) and shall last for one week, concluding at 00:00 GMT on Tuesday the Sixth (6th) of June Two Thousand and Seventeen (2017) . Votes recieved outside of this period shall not be counted.

Immediately upon the conclusion of this period, votes shall be counted by the Election Administrator (Kanoria) and shall be confirmed by at least one other nation.

Once confirmation is received, an announcement shall be made of the result, resulting in the new Delegate's term beginning immediately.

Voting is conducted on a preferential basis.

Any member state that wishes to vote shall please send a Message to the Elections Administrator account on the forum using the following format:
Subject: [Nation Name] - Delegate Vote June 17

Body:   1) [First Preference Nation]
       2) [Second Preference Nation]
       3) [Third Preference Nation]
4) [Fourth Preference Nation]


Any member state that wishes to register an abstention shall please message the Elections Administrator account on the forum using the following format, or write abstain in place of the first nation in order that you have no preference for.

Per S1C1 of the Elections and Voting Act, the SLU has optional preferential voting, and thus the ballots should permit abstention at any point in the ballot, not just full abstention.

It is allowed, and as Odd says, you can abstain at any point on a ballot. If you wish to lodge a vote with all four preferences, you may do so, as the mistake was mine on this occasion.

Social Liberal Union Delegate Election June 2017
A delegate election concluded tonight at midnight, with ten (10) valid votes cast.
There were four (4) nations standing for the position of world assembly delegate.
The election was held by Instant Runoff Voting in line with Article 8, section 4 of the third SLU constitution which requires preferential voting.

First preference votes were as follows:
Austerain:4
Mintonity[:1
Normandy and Picardy: 2
Odd Republic:2

After the first preference votes were counted, Mintonity had the least, and was thus eliminated.

Adding Second preference votes to existing totals resulted in:

Austerain:5
Normandy and Picardy: 2
Odd Republic:2

As both Normandy and Picardy and Odd Republic were tied for the least votes, they were both eliminated from the running for the position of world assembly delegate.

I thus declare that Austerain is duly elected World Assembly Delegate for the Social Liberal Union in line with the Third constitution, Article 5, Section 2, for a term to last four (4) Calendar months beginning from 00:00 on 06/06/2017 and ending at 00:00 on 06/10/2017.

There was one full abstention, two abstentions for third preference and five for fourth preference.

This election was administered by Kanoria with votes counted by Kanoria[and verified by Eggy216.
