You may recognize the Odd Republic as your Speaker of the Union, which indeed it is. Throughout its tenure as Speaker, the Republic has gained experience in government which will guide its term as Delegate, including working with Anaaxes to establish a new Constitution. It is partially for that reason that we in the Odd Republic seek your vote: As one of the authors of the Constitution, it is us who can best lead the SLU into a new era, with your contribution and request. Experience and Achievements
As a longtime Member State and the current Speaker of the Union, the Odd Republic has valuable experience in the Social Liberal Union. It have also made many achievements as Speaker.
Among them:
- Aa-2 to A-21
- Amendment 14 to the Second Constitution
- (With Anaaxes) the Third Constitution, by far the most important accomplishment
- Parliamentary Library Act (A-23)
- SLU Modernization Act (A-25)
Plans
As Delegate, the Odd Republic intends to use its experience as Speaker and its knowledge (from drafting) of the Third Constitution to improve the Social Liberal Union.
These plans include:
- Increase use of and work to improve the Library of Parliament, in cooperation with the next Speaker, including (a) elegantly laying out history by delegate, (b) ensuring that all legislation is properly laid out on the Library, (c) recording elections history, (d) promoting se of the Library, and (e) refer to Point 4
- Work with the Minister of Domestic Affairs to ensure that the Council of Leaders and City of Culture activities are restarted, along with keeping current activities running and starting new activities which the region wants
- Rewrite the World Factbook Entry to look even better than it already does
- Create dispatches and introductory publications such as a getting started guide and guide to coding on the Library of Parliament
- Have the Ministry of Immigration prepare a list of nations and a list of member states
- Work on a new theme for the forum, along with a reorganization of boards
- Work with members on a new flag
- Craft a new welcome telegram and codify it into law
- Begin inter-regional and intra-regional debating to engage members along with our embassy regions
- (Finally) engage the Court of Justice in the functioning of the Social Liberal Union, perhaps using the Court for roleplay disputes between nations
- Begin drafting WA resolutions for the benefit of the SLU and the NationStates world as a whole
- Ensure the successful and complete implementation of the Third Constitution of the Social Liberal Union
- Create an active recruiter force within the Ministry of Immigration, in coordination with the Minister
- Begin a service of the Delegate's office for making requests and petitioning for changes in government, be they legislative, policy-related, or anything else the region wants (of course provided that requests are legal)
