NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationNATO- or the North-American and Avaerilonian Treaty Organisation- is a military organisation dually-run by The Council Republic of North American Republics and The Incredibly Nice Kingdom of Avaerilon. It represents the culmination of a close working-relationship between the two nations, which has given rise to a defensive military and intelligence alliance. The group also represents the nations of Socialism Lovers, Rhygwd, Mannin, Logres and The Wind in The Willows, who share close relationships with the two heads of the group. NATO signatories employ their own armed forces, but there is also a dedicated NATO branch of each nations' army. Their uniform is emerald-green, and soldiers can only join after having served 5 years' in their own nation's army with distinction, and after passing an entrance exam. Most NATO troops are crack-soldiers and decorated officers, hence the nickname for them: The A-Team. The motto for NATO is "Simul In Arma;" Latin for "Together In Arms." The headquarters for NATO are two parallel-run centres in two of the respective head nations' major cities; New Chicago in NAR, and Lundainium in Avaerilon. New Chicago's HQ specialises in intelligence-gathering, while Lundainium is noted for data analysis. NATO- Simul In Arma

I think Narglandia's forces would better suit the style of role-play in the new, shiny Planetary Role-Play section :) We're about present-day-esque situations and feeble, Earthling militaries :P

Franco-Lowlands appears to meet the requirements for becoming a part of the alliance; Avaerilon will seriously consider the case for Franco-Lowlands (and the territories they are responsible for defending?) joining NATO. We will inform our partner, NAR, of the matter. We are confident you will be accepted, provided that you agree to sign and abide by the North American and Avaerilonian Treaty.

Allied States of Newhalla does not currently want to join NATO but we would like to participate in training operations (maybe as enemy's or something like that) and hold a more selective support role. We can assist whit troops in situations if necessarily but not being forced to do it.

NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationNATO policy denotes that we do not purchase, hire, or otherwise utilise military equipment from a non-NATO nation. As such, NATO must decline the request of a contract from Equum Alatum. As for troop training, NATO currently does not train "the A-Team" with non-NATO forces. Furthermore, NATO has an "in-or-out" policy with regards to "supporting" troops. Therefore, we must also decline Newhalla's offer. NATO troops tend to work alongside standard members of the armed services from signatory nations in situations that NATO exclusively becomes involved in, unless there is a specific need for NATO nations to co-ordinate a single force. So no joint training exercises like they do in the real world like Cold Response where Sweden (non-NATO) was in whit 2000 soldiers. Are those of the table?
oh wait Norway invited non-NATO countries to join but still.

It's not a purchase, but a co-op, we will provide state of the art (by earth standards) beam tracer weaponry and lander aircraft for all NATO troops, in return 40 four-man commando squads of the EAF join NATO forces

NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationTo Newhalla: We are not entirely like the "real world" NATO; in fact we share comparatively little with them. Unless there is a change in policy, NATO would not train the NATO-specific "A-Team" with non-signators, though individual members may train their standard armed forces with who they please. We do appreciate the offer, but we must again decline for reasons clearly laid-out in the treaty. We wish to clarify that the "A-Team" elite unit is built specifically around NATO and the possibility of all NATO members needing to effectively co-ordinate with one unit to complete their objectives. It is not an ordinary unit. Equum Alatum: NATO policy dictates that we use only equipment derived from NATO members. We already have sufficient equipment to meet the needs of our dedicated units and any possible objectives, although we appreciate the offer. Furthermore, the idea of non-NATO troops joining our forces would invalidate and violate the treaty. As stated previously, the dedicated NATO forces can only be made up of soldiers from signatory states who volunteer and are qualified to join NATO. We advise nations to take another look at our previous posts so that they fully understand the nature of NATO. If they are unsure about anything, then they should make enquiries rather then offers. ehh I'm not asking to train new units, I'm asking if NATO forces and non-member forces could do joint exercises. Like a fictional scenario where 2 teams (NATO VS non-NATO) are fighting in different terrain like jungle, tundra, grasslands, forests and such. To keep the units sharp and prepared for a real situation.

NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationI fully understand, and have fully understood you. I again state that NATO troops do not currently take part in such training exercises with troops from non-signatory states. They do train with troops from signatory states, as per the treaty, but cannot at present train with non-signatory troops, as per the treaty and the terms defined within. We appreciate the offer, but we do not require it. Standard Avaerilonian troops in our own army can train with your troops, but not any Avaerilonian soldiers that are part of the NATO Elite Assault Squad. The troops in the Elite Assault Squad can only train with troops from armies that are part of NATO. NATO- Simul In Arma

NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationSender: NATO- Avaerilon HQ, LyndainiumRecipient: NATO- NAR HQ, New ChicagoDear friends, Avaerilon is glad to help you deal with the insurgency in Pont de Roche. As it happens, we are able to increase production of armaments and ammunition for your forces to use. To allay the false and disgusting rumours about Avaerilonian weapons being used against NARan forces, and to test them in the theatre of war, we would like to offer the militias of NAR first use of a new semi-automatic rifle developed. This is the AA7 Carbine, which uses standard 5.56mm ammunition. It has a range closer to a genuine rifle than the usual semi-auto weapon, a fire-rate that allows for control and power, and has been specifically manufactured to withstand any and all possible damage in front-line warfare. We have some answers as to the reports of the unexploded "Avaerilonian" ordinance. Some thirty years ago, Avaerilon conducted a training-exercise in the Pont de Roche region, involving our 5th Artillery Corps. It is more than likely that the (at the time) experimental shells did not all explode. While we made every effort to retrieve as many rounds as possible, some may have slipped-through our fingers. It is equally possible that it is a pure fabrication; some of the anti-Avaerilonian feeling described in your nation borders on racism and political hatred, which could easily lead to a usually-trustworthy group of soldiers laying the blame on a group they dislike. We state again that Avaerilon would never attack your nation; not only are we allies in NATO, but there is a healthy respect between us, and although our nations are committed to different socio-economic positions, we entertain the idea that this difference makes us stronger. There is one final point of business we must discuss- after the Ministry of Defence conducted a security review, all V-Force aircraft (Vulcans, Victors and Valiants) will be withdrawn from NATO use, and are to be exclusively flown by Avaerilon. To make up for the loss of Avaerilonian air-power, we are doubling the amount of Cerbera bombers we commit to the "A-Team," along with the introduction of the Avro Myrddin heavy-duty helicopter. NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationEMERGENCY CONFERENCE First of all, I would like to thank the Bryan administration of North American Republics, its servicemen, and its population, for working so closely with our own government, servicemen and population. It has indeed been a pleasure, and so much has been achieved by our close co-operation. Next, I would like to state our respect of the NARan government's wishes, with regards to aid and supply. As per their requests, Avaerilon will not engage with the dispensing of Avaerilonian-made weaponry, nor the supply of aid. Now, we come to more serious matters. I have the detailed information requested by New Chicago HQ, on the behest of the NARan government, on the subject of experimental weaponry used and shells discharged by Avaerilon's military a considerable time ago in the Pont de Roche area. This is an image of the Cwarc-19 60mm shell-type fired from our artillery. The shell used crude and experimental pre-GPS technology to ensure targeting was as accurate as possible. As per Avaerilonian law, the devices contained regular explosives, designed to impact a smaller area, but with more force. No toxic elements or compounds were involved in the manufacture of the shells. This was the artillery we chose at the time to fire the shells from. The AA "Sea-Snake" 50-75mm heavy gun was a robust unit used by the Avaerilonian Army from 1964-1979. It was chosen for its reliability, range and power. The FBA no longer uses the piece, nor were any sold to other nations or individuals. It is possible, however, that foreign military museums sold the guns to other institutions. The Cwarc-19s were deemed "unreliable" and "prone to failure," so the project was abandoned. Only in the last ten years have efforts to include GPS in artillery shells been renewed. 234 shells were discharged over 3 days in Pont de Roche. 162 exploded and 64 non-exploded shells were recovered; 8 were not found despite a two week search and the use of sensitive equipment to find them. A carpet-bombing of the area was ordered, and a FALA Vulcan discharged 3 Plasma EMP's over the area; we can confirm 3 of the missing shells certainly exploded. The other 5 may not have done so. Finally, we would like to talk about the status of NATO, should North American Republics choose to leave. We believe that we can easily alter the treaty itself to exclude the afore-mentioned founding-nation, and keep the rest of the organisation intact, although we suggest a name change should the event occur. We hope that the delegates of NAR choose to remain in the group. However, we respect their democratic right to say "no." NATO- Simul In Arma

NATO- North American and Avaerilonion Treaty OrganisationURGENT: TRANSITION FROM NATO UNDERWAY As of now, the NATO treaty between its founders, The Council Republic of North American Republics and The Incredibly Nice Kingdom of Avaerilon, is null and hereby voided, due to the decision of the former state to withdraw from the treaty, and end all co-operation in formal military matters. Avaerilon, however, believes that ourselves and current signatory states have the right to continued military co-operation and defence. Therefore, we propose to transfer existing powers and troops from "NATO" to a new organisation. We feel the treaty, rather than be torn-up, can easily be modified to reflect the drastic change now faced by ourselves still committed to the ideals of NATO. Provisionally, we are suggesting the name of "CAT" or Co-Operative Alliance Treaty, which will replace NATO. Co-Operative Alliance Treaty The people of the remaining states signatory to NATO have continued to co-operate together in an attempt to safeguard the sovereignty and interests of the member states. Thus this treaty was established. The bond between these states is thusly represented through the Co-Operative Alliance Treaty: Article One: The signators of this treaty agree to the mutual defense of one another state from aggression. 1. Pending external hostilities: [/ul]1.4. A meeting of heads of states must be undertaken within one (1) week of the start of hostilities.[/ul] 2. Pending internal hostilities: 2.1.2. This meeting shall also take upon it the task of determining the length of time of action by signatory states. 2.1.3. This meeting shall be conducted via a one-state one-vote method and the course of action shall be determined via a supermajority of sixty (60) percent.[/ul]2.2. Each signatory state agrees to provide what assistance they can in the case of internal aggression against any member state. 2.3. Each signatory state agrees to official state that they are at war with the internal aggressor. 2.4. Each signatory state agrees to the allowance of free passage of signatory states’ military forces during a time of internal aggression. [/ul] [/ul] Article Two: Interstate co-operation, discussion, and communication between signatory states is necessary. 1. Regarding interstate co-operation 2. Regarding interstate discussion 3. Regarding interstate communication Article Three: Signatory states agree to formally join an organization dedicated to the pursuance of these articles herein. This organization shall be called the “Co-Operative Alliance Treaty” or CAT. Article Four: Signatory states agree to contribute towards a dedicated CAT military unit, to be deployed in situations where it may be preferable to use said unit as opposed to a coalition force. 1. Regarding the contribution towards the CAT Elite Assault Team 1.2. All nations to provide adequate numbers of armoured and combat vehicles based on the number of troops they have provided to serve under CAT directly, as mentioned above 1.3. All nations to provide aircraft based on the numbers of troops supplied: 1.4. All nations to provide the financial upkeep needed for the units and vehicles that they send: [/ul] 2. Regarding the deployment of the CAT Elite Assault Team 2.4. CAT Central Command will handle the deployment of the CAT E.A. Team in the field, and will be expected to adapt to a changing situation, should the need arise.[/ul] Article Five: Regarding changes to the treaty 1. This treaty shall have the ability to be changed by a meeting of heads of states. [/spoiler] For now, the remaining forces of NATO are represented in Lyndainium HQ. This could later become one of several or the sole HQ of CAT, or whatever organisation should come to fruition thereafter. NATO- Simul In Arma

CAT- Co-Operative Treaty AllianceHaving discussed matters in great detail, it is our duty to inform all current signators that NATO will become CAT; all current signators of NATO will become signators of CAT. I am also pleased to welcome The Allied States of Newhalla to CAT, as its first "new" member. I am sure our ranks will be greatly bolstered by Hallan efforts. It is now time to undergo the final stages of transition to CAT from NATO- this thread will be locked, and a new one shall be created. I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank all the member states involved with this process, and to extend my final farewells to the CRNAR for their great efforts in setting-up NATO with ourselves; we shall never forget the great things we achieved.
