I just want to point out that a certain group of Elemental Tribe's environment is in great shape and a they still have a pretty nice economy.

I hardly get decent economic issues, that's the problem. One of my puppets is practically the same as Avaerilon, but it has a powerful economy. Oh well :P

I've just noticed something. In NAR's model, it appears the value of your currency actually goes down as your economy goes up. For example, look at Avaerilons. 1 dollar is worth 0.38 Aubs. That's the kind of exchange rate that puts the Pound-Dollar exchange to shame.
However, the Michutopia currency is exchanging as nearly 2 of their currency to on dollar, so 50 cents= 1 Michelsen. Unless I'm reading it wrong, but the column on the side labels it quite clearly.

Er, 1 Aubs = 0.38 NS$. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Huh, I just thought that because on the side it says "1 yours to 1 NS Dollar". But I guess I misread it.
Edit: Ignoring Millylands recent ideology change, I just want to ask if I could change change the "1 dollar" to "X dollars" to make it clearer.

*sighs* Yeah, that would make more sense ;D
Edit: Done.
Edit 2: Have you checked out Grolsch's model with your own values?

Er, no, not yet, but I've downloaded it as an Open Office file for when I want to check it out.

NAR's model obviously is easier to read and edit. It is easier for people to use it in their role play and as such, generally, I think it is better.

All I would say though, is that it's impossible to take-into account the various sectors and other such factors that would feed-into a nation's currency's real value. Therefore, it is impossible to make a truly accurate exchange rate calculation.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I made my model a bit more realistic while still keeping it simple enough for role-playing purposes.
Edit: :P I updated it with the "Sector: Blah" analysis stuff that NS gives you. My model is starting to become a bit more complex (and in some parts, probably wrong), so I hope that Grolsch approves of it ;)

:D I was able to create a "Sector: Services" sort of number by using some of the industry numbers that NS gives you. It now takes into account ones agriculture, manufacturing, and services sectors.
It is getting a bit harder to edit, though. Not too hard, but it is getting a bit harder.

:( No tourism industry? That's where a huge chunk of my population is employed!
Thou hast insulted my honour, NAR!

Ok, I've updated my model. Grolsch gave his (implied) consent to use my model for exchange rates so I would like to see how many people are actually interested in using the exchange rates that I provide in intra-regional trade and the like. This way I can reduce the size of the spreadsheet to make it quicker to edit and provide a basis for trade in the region.

I've also added a new page to the SLU Weekly Journal that displays the nation's name, their currency abbreviation, and their current exchange rate, available here.

I've tweaked the numbers again because the bonus provided by tourism seemed a bit weird to me. Luckily, everything associated with the exchange rates is controlled by the spreadsheet so I don't have to manually update everything that I've done with the rates. I've played with the numbers in B7 to B9 to give what I think is a better exchange rate, but anyone can play with those three values to see what seems appropriate. Now nations with a better civil rights, political freedoms, and a better economy will see those values reflected better in their rate. Sorry, Ava, but you've become the worst exchange rate in the region again. Make sure to check it out and contribute to this thread. I would like to finalize how the rates are calculated. I would also like to see how many nations are willing to use them for trade in the region.

Sure.
As a note to any other interested parties, the spreadsheet can be edited by anyone. I think that the values in green are appropriate values, so I would not change them, but anyone can add their own country and stats in.
