WELCOME TO THE SOCIAL LIBERAL UNION FORUM!
I know it might look a little bewildering at first (I thought so, too!), but the forum is actually a very user-friendly place and easy enough for anyone to use.
The forum is divided into several sections, which I will now describe and explain (basically) how to use. :)
Regional Government
In this section, you can find information from the current Regional Government. It's that simple!
Role-play
This is our most active part of the forum. Here, you can take part in activities, write news stories and help decide how to handle crises. Sometimes, we even have other immensely fun things for you to do! Hey, how do you think I remain (officially) sane?
The top section of Role-Play is all about Diplomacy. Want to host a State Visit? Look no further! Want to establish embassies with a fellow SLU nation? Go for it. There's endless possibilities.
Have you ever wanted to be a journalist? Even if you say no, why not go to the News Room section and create a thread for your nation’s news? Keep us up-to-date with what’s happening in your country. "How do I do it?" Just make up some event in your nation! As long as it’s relatively realistic and plausible, you can write almost anything!
The next section is the home of the SLU City of Culture, the SLU's premiere roleplaying and worldbuilding competition. In this semi-annual competition hosted by the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, nations of the SLU compete to see who has the coolest city - and winning has some cool perks (and lots of bragging rights).
Now we move on to the juiciest part of the section: The Council of Leaders! Essentially, someone (it could be you, if you like!) submits a “Situation Report.” You can see examples of how to format them everywhere in the Council of Leaders. This report gives an overview of a situation happening in the SLU or affecting it from outside. Nations then post their response to the situation, saying how they will handle it based on the information provided. When doing this, DON’T say “oh, we found a cure for that ages ago” or “our army killed all the rebels, we won;” real situations like this don’t have answers like that! More importantly, it makes it less fun for yourself and everyone else. Instead, think - what you would do in real life? If there was a terrorist strike, would you invade another nation? Seek peaceful forum? Introduce ID cards? Whatever you decide to do, it will have an effect, and that will be posted in the next update. You then have to do something in response; possibly to rectify something bad that happened as a result of your actions!
In General Role-play Discussion, you can find ... general role-play discussion. Surveys, debates, and lots of other cool, non-specific role-play oriented things are posted here. Check it out!
General Discussion
This is a non-role-play board for all of your social needs - without the hassle of leaving your couch, chair, or other preferred sitting medium! It's divided into 3 cool sections.
The Forum Games section is full of every SLU forum game your heart could ever desire. Our favorites are Corrupt a Wish, where you wish for something and the person below you describes how it totally backfires; Word Association, where you post the next word that comes to mind (ex: fish ... ocean ... water ... rain ...); and King of the Hill, where you try to take over the hill through any means necessary.
Chat and Social is the general hang-out of the Social Liberal Union. It has fun polls, discussions, and the occasional regional videogame tournament!
NationStates Discussion is mainly for those nerds who play NationStates, pfft .... oh wait, that's all of us! This section is a nice place to draft World Assembly Resolutions, draft Issues for the NationStates game, or complain about the NS Mods.
Forum Help Board
This doesn't need much of an introduction - you're already here! This is a section for those who have questions specifically pertaining to the Forum and/or the Region in general.
The General Information section is where you can find several guides and tutorials, which we try to update as often as possible. It's a great first stop when you have a question.
The Mentorship section is the headquarters of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs Mentorship Program. Here, you can request one-on-one help from a veteran of the Social Liberal Union - no judgement, just honest help.
In the Feedback and Ideas section, be sure to leave your thoughts, suggestions, and concerns. Comments left here might impact the next forum update!
The Open Parliament
The Open Parliament is the legislative body of the Social Liberal Union. Here, most of our political discussions and plans for the region are found - this allows anyone to freely share their opinions on official matters. Got a problem with a piece of legislation? Tell us about it here. An idea for an amendment? Go on, share your thoughts!
You can have a look at Archives of Parliament in the Library of Parliament section.
You can submit a bill in the Submitted Bills section.
You can debate to your heart's desire in the Open parliament Discussion section.
The Court of Justice
The Court is the foremost legal authority in the SLU. Major disputes are settled here, and the word of the Court is final.
The Court Lobby houses several introductory texts, such as rules and procedures. Read up before you file for a hearing!
The Judicial Chamber is where the proceedings of the Court take place.
The Confidential Conference Room is a secret ... shhhh! What's in there? Who knows? ... Honestly, it's probably best if you never find out.
The Judicial Council is a private deliberation room for the judges of the Court.
The Office of the Attorney General is where the Attorney General goes totrack down villains destroy the Mafia work for the Mafia inverstigate violations of regional law. If you do your best, you'll never be mentioned here.
I hope this little guide was helpful. Feel free to contact any government official with your questions, comments, and concerns, and don't forget to have a cookie. (::)
