Interview With West Bengalis
Our fifth interview is with West Bengalis, who is, at the moment of this publication, the sitting Minister of Foreign Affairs
⦁ When did you first join NationStates? How did you first hear about it?
I joined NationStates last November with West Bengalis! As of how I first heard it, I was on the capitalist paradise known as Google searching for nation simulation games when this popped up. The rest is history, or at least I hope it is. :P
⦁ When did you join the DSA? Were you just looking at regions when you found us or did you come through recruitment telegram?
I joined the DSA the day I joined NS. A recruitment telegram came in when I was in a feeder region (I think it was either The Pacific or The North Pacific). Considered myself a demsoc or socdem at the time, I joined the obvious choice among other poorly written or themed recruitment telegrams. I remember Ivory being president at the time, and I remember getting a warm welcome even though the region was subdued from the embassy closure with Gay.
⦁ What are some things you've come to enjoy about the DSA most? A favorite memory?
Hmm.. a few memories do spring to mind! I particularly relished the embassy closure with Norrland under Gallifrax, as I was ambassador there and knew what special hell that region was. :P I was also overjoyed when Ivory nominated me and the region chose me as MoIRP (of course I wasn't that overjoyed when region population started plummeting. Thankfully, the last Cabinet was compassionate and so was the region for choosing me as MoFA :P I really hope I'm doing a better job now). But I might have bored you all now, so let's proceed with the next question, shall we? Nervous chuckle
⦁ What do you do outside of NationStates? Examples: what your job (if employed)? Hobbies? Talents? etc
Outside of NationStates, nothing fancy! Just another Bengali student in the sea of students here, carrying on as far as possible while enjoying whatever life I do have! In school, I'm that guy who always rants about politics and cares about the news xD. I also like to go to Model UN conferences and read my history and historical fiction books.
⦁ What made you first want to enter DSA government? What made you want to enter for this cabinet?
Initially as MoIRP? Ivory nominated me, and you might want to ask him why. He's also the one who made me Cabinet Aide when that program started again, so I guess he wants me to see me in government? So I was a clueless candidate, just curious to see how government works. And so I did, I learnt a lot under the last Cabinet and 124mm10. I'll always fondly remember my time in Immigration. As for Foreign Affairs, I felt Dekks would be a better MoIRP than me and I always wanted to be in Foreign Affairs, it's one of my passions since when I became Ambassador. That is why I decided to stand for Minister of Foreign Affairs. Let's hope MoFA goes more successfully for me than MoIRP! xD
⦁ Who are some people whom you've come to consider good friends in the DSA?
Ahh, now that's a tricky question. Whom do I mention and whom do I not? It seems that everyone here has become close to me in some way or other! I'd say that Horgr, Xingal, Dekks, Solus Unus, Ivory Rhodes, Illyrian States, Gribelt, this person who I think I have irritated much by asking to make my countryball and my Aakashvani logo and who also happens to be the best MoRP, and quite a few that I haven't mentioned because they're from other regions or because listing everybody who's my friend will entail listing almost half of the Discord :P. So if you are not here in this litany of names of which I have said a small portion of, don't be disappointed! I still consider you a friend (even if you consider me some pest to get rid of. :P)
⦁ What are your plans for the future in your life? What do you hope to be or accomplish before you die? Or more simply and less macabre, within the next 20 years?
Plans for the future? Well, for the meantime, I want to study International Relations. I'm quite interested about global affairs. Hopefully I go on and become a protector of human rights and the enemy of war in the UN or Amnesty or HRW or something grand like that. But that's a long way to go. Let's see how it goes!
