Hi there. I imagine many of you are surprised I am doing this. You don't see me weigh in too often in SLU matters and I am a transplant (in fact, I am a waiver nation). Maybe I was nominated at random, or as a joke, but it doesn't matter. I happen to know that this is something I can do, and I would relish the opportunity to do m part in SLU.
Many of you know I hail from TVF, where I have served as that's region equivalent to the Chancellor, the Chief Justice, for a 6 month term. I have just begun my second term in that office. So far I have heard 2 criminal cases and 2 judicial review cases. I have also drafted the region's Court procedure and established a two tracks, one for criminal and one for civil trials. I was also extensively involved in drafting TVF's new legal system and maintaining those records. It is my understanding that the Chancellor has similar work that must be done in this region.
I stand by my good judgment, my professional conducting of trials, and my meticulous drafting and record keeping. You can rely on me to do all of that well. But what about what I could bring to the table that's new? Well I don't think I can promise you too much that's different, because I respect SLU's tradition and I think that things are working pretty well. I won't pretend that I know more about the region's history or that the current chancellor hasn't done a good job. But to me, diving deeper into SLU, everything looks fresh. I am not burdened by years of tradition or experiences that lend themselves to attachments or inflexibility. If you put me in this position, you can take for granted that I'm not going to see things exactly the same as the incumbent or other long-time residents. I will be open-minded because I will be coming in from a purely objective perspective. I can only work with what is argued and what is written in the law, I won't have intentional or unintentional biases, or policy preferences.
If you prefer someone with history and direct experience in SLU, I understand. But if you elect me, I will do the job, I will do it well, and I will give it the same attention and commitment that I give to every other job I have or have held in NS. I welcome your questions and/or comments and thank you in advance for your vote should you honor me with it.
I would also like to confirm that I pledge to conduct my campaign in accordance with the Code of Fair Campaign Practices.
