What made you give your nation the name that it has?
For me, I named it after the Star Wars planet Corellia. Welllllll..... I wanted to name it that, but it was taken.
To solve the predicament I had found myself in, I arbitrarily added a "u" (which our friends from the United Kingdom may find that quite honourable) and removed an "a."

So there's an author who I really like, cause he's a good egg and frankly epic in every single way, and we talked for ages about reinactment and swords (cause why not?!). I may have fanboyed a little.
At this point I already had his books, but after this, I decided to give them all a re-read, and one of the cities in the books is called Harndon (and is entirely unrelated to the wierd hybrid culture I strapped my nation with), and that name just came up when I was struggling for a name when the site asked me for one, so I put it down.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

I didn't really understand how naming worked on the site, so I'm really "North America"-inspired (minus Central America) country with a continent-wide republican governance. It was too late to change my name once I got the hang of the game and liked it, so I rolled with it. I'd probably change my name if I could, but alas, we're where we're at.

I'll speak to both my current name and the Odd Republic.
Odd Republic: I make up fantastical stories in my head. I like the word odd. For a long time, there was a nation I thought about entitled the Odd Empire (with a ridiculously long full name). When I first joined NS, I made both an Odd Empire and (more fittingly to my beliefs) an Odd Republic. One survived, and I ran with it until the nation died.
Ramelia: In a major shift for my personal canon, I decided to come up with a new capital for what had become the Odd Republic or Odd Union (which is a little ambiguous). I like coming up with names that, to me, are new, so I ended up with Ramelium. Long story short, my name for a country of Ramelium is Ramelia. I liked the name, so that's what I used when naming myself.
