For those of you who may not know, the SLU Mentorship Program is an involvement initiative of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, designed to aid new members of the Region while they adapt to life in the SLU. It is overseen by the Department of Mentorship, with the Secretary of Mentorship as its Chief Mentor, and up to 10 additional Mentors.
This thread will lay out the basic structure of the Mentorship Program, as well as the general workings of the Department of Mentorship.
Mentor Prerequisites
- Mentors must have resided in the SLU for no less than 3 months.
- Mentors must meet all requirements of Member States, as set forth by the Constitution.
- Mentors must log onto NationStates at least once every 24 hours (unless the Mentor has announced to the Secretary of Mentorship that they will be absent for a period of time).
- Mentors must be approved by the Minister of Domestic Affairs, Secretary of Mentorship, and World Assembly Delegate.
Mentor Responsibilities
- Mentors must attempt to answer all questions of nations seeking assistance pertaining to the regional affairs of the Social Liberal Union.
- Mentors must attempt to answer all questions of nations seeking assistance pertaining to the game of NationStates.
- Mentors must treat nations seeking assistance with all due respect.
- Mentors must answer all reasonable questions (defined below) within 72 hours (unless the Mentor has announced to the Secretary of Mentorship that they will be absent for a period of time).
Mentor Rights
- Mentors have the right to not answer spam telegrams.
- Mentors have the right to not answer questions unrelated to NationStates.
- Mentors have the right to not answer abusive or vulgar telegrams.
- Mentors have the right to take a vacation period, so long as the Secretary of Mentorship is notified in advance.
Failure to Meet Requirements or Uphold Responsibilities
- Any Mentor who is found to be in violation of Requirements, or is not upholding their responsibilities, may be removed from Mentorship by the Secretary of Mentorship with approval of the Minister of Domestic Affairs.
Procedure of the Department of Mentorship
- When a new nation arrives in the SLU, they may visit the Forum Help Board and request a mentor. Upon their request, they will be assigned a mentor.
- The Mentor shall be contacted to inform them of their assignment. From this point, the Mentor has 72 hours to contact the new nation.
- The Mentor shall attempt to answer all questions earnestly and honestly.
- The new nation may request a different Mentor through telegram to the Minister of Domestic Affairs or Secretary of Mentorship.
- The Secretary of Mentorship may, at his/her discretion, provide mentorship tools, such as guidebooks and references.
