Sonnet about Trees
Between two hills, two trees stood there upon. Down on the grounds amidst the mounds a town Of bushes, brambles, beds of blue and brown Made patchwork of the foliage withdrawn. They loved each other such with stalwart brawn, The trees spread roots across the valley sound. Between the roots, the animals home found, But came the insects, bugs, and woebegone.
The forest changed that dawn of orange light. The roots between the loving trees of hope And hospitality were eaten whole. So broken were the trees without their might. Their trunks had withered, rotted down the slope, And drowned the creatures in its muddied shoal.
