A Communique to SLU Neighbors from Austerain

To our esteemed neighbors of the Social Liberal Union,


As you may have noted from the recent article of the Austerain International Times released today, I have announced a new initiative from my Government to open our borders and trade with other regional nations.


Our humble island nation has survived the last few centuries since our founding on its own. As a country that was first settled and established as a refuge away from tyrants and royal despots abroad, skepticism towards other nations has always been deeply engrained in our culture, and we founded our country based on the idea of extensive civil rights and political liberties.


When I was first Leader of the Opposition in our National Congress, it came to my attention that our nation was missing something essential for free thought and economic success- broad foreign policy, trade, and open borders. My campaign for Grand Chancellor alongside the Liberal Party has pushed for allowance of more immigration and trade with our overseas neighbors, along with close military cooperation.

Austerain has tremendous potential in terms of our goods and services in self-sustainability over the years. Our major agricultural products are wheat, soybeans, and corn from our croplands as well as apples, oranges, and champagne wine from our orchards and vineyards. As an island nation, we specialize in responsible aquaculture and have a substantial seafood and sea plant industry. In technology, we have made significant advancements in medical technology and information services that can be offered worldwide. In tourism, we have beautiful coastal cities, sparkling beaches, and magnificent mountains and Highlands. Despite our metropolitan growth, we have made significant change in our greenhouse emissions and other forms of pollution to keep our cities and natural landscapes beautiful.

Austerain offers potential to the regional economy and its consumers. At this time, it is untapped and ripe for exposure and further growth.


I hope that leaders around the region will understand this potential and take advantage of the opportunity for the benefit of all.

On behalf the people of Anaaxes, it is my honor to welcome the Federal Republic of Austerain into the Social Liberal Union, which we ourselves joined four years ago. We are glad that Austerain shares our core ideals of freedom, democracy, and openness. I look forward to the opportunity of strengthening our ties through diplomacy and trade between our peoples in the years to come. 

May this be the beginning of an era of cooperation and prosperity.

Thank you very much for welcoming us into this Union. The common values that unite us shall be essential to our relationship and successful diplomatic and economic ties.


We thank the Federal Republic of Anaaxxes for being the first to respond to our communique. I would like to request the construction of an embassy in your capital city and that we may assign an ambassador so that we may begin building a special diplomatic relationship and future trade deals that will benefit all citizens of our societies. As per the passage of the Omnibus Trade Initiative Act by the Austerain National Congress, Anaaxxes will be authorized to obtain an embassy and multiple consulate and an ambassador's residence within the national capital city or in provincial capital cities, and Anaaxese citizens will be able to travel freely and buy and sell between our nations. Any specific accommodations pertaining to security, embassy and residence arrangements, architectural plans, and preferences can be arranged. A map of Austerain is available here.
