The Labour and Socialist International, an embassy region of the SLU, recently decided to dissolve in accordance with their constitution after a prolonged period of inactivity. This has, over the last week, led to the region being largely abandoned, with some members moving to a successor region, LSI. Labour and Socialist International now only has 13 resident nations, and is as a result of the decision to dissolve extremely unlikely to regain numbers or activity. As a result, I now believe Labour and Socialist International violates the SLU embassy requirements set forth in Article 12, Section 1, Clauses 2 and 6 of the Social Liberal Union Constitution, and that further maintaining an embassy does not benefit the SLU. I therefore propose that the embassy with Labour and Socialist International be closed in accordance with Article 12, Section 3 of the Social Liberal Union Constitution. Voting on the matter will last for one week. Finally I would like to express my hope that the replacement region, LSI, will in time develop into a healthy and active region that shares the values of the SLU, and that this body may at that time consider a proposal to reestablish diplomatic relations with that community.
