[English language edition]SLU DELEGATE ELECTION
The period of voting for the election of the new Social Liberal Union World Assembly delegate is due to begin imminently, with the official nominations period ending at 00:00 UTC on 1st June. Currently two nations: the incumbent Anaaxes, and challenger Ceni are running for office. Thus far there has been no indication that either has pulled out a significant lead over the other. Observers here are split between who will clinch the title: Anaaxes has lots of experience already in the role of delegate, and has a proven and successful track record; however Ceni is a longstanding member of the SLU with lots of experience in other governmental roles.
The Mons Garlean cabinet has already met tonight to make their decision on who the Associated Federation will support. In keeping with the tradition of a secret ballot, the government's choice will not be made public. The results of the election will be known in a week's time, when voting closes and the ballots are counted and verified.
ON-GOING INSURGENCY IN EASTERN REGIONS
The insurgency led by the terrorist cell known as "Kayashné Hanokewá" continues its seemingly indomitable course of destruction and murder in the Eastern regions of the Federation. After the recent offers of assistance from our fellow SLU members, the advance of KH cells has been stemmed, though the armed forces have yet to make inroads into the areas that the group already controls. In one village on the Eastern border, Jikaye, it has been reported that around 80 people have been tortured and killed for allegedly going against the group's extremist religious views - most of the victims were reported to have been mainstream pagan Áyentse tribes-people.
However, a significant victory for our armed forces comes from the town of Rishnuhágena, which has now been liberated from a crippling siege by the militants. The government has expressed its particular gratitude for the assistance of Anaaxese drone teams, who were able to pinpoint and destroy the supply lines used by KH in the surrounding rainforests.
So far the number of casualties killed fighting for the State Armed Forces and the freedom of the Eastern region is at 186.
LSI CONSIDERING DISSOLUTION
Labour and Socialist International, a well-known region with ideological links to the SLU, is considering dissolving itself and potentially dispersing its remaining 22 members to the Democratic Socialist Assembly, according to recent messages published by a member state known as the The Socialist Republic of Adamae. The memo blames inactivity and dwindling recruitment as reasons for the possible dissolution.
SRG can report that according to sources within SLU government circles, the snub from a high ranking member of the LSI toward the SLU - by apparently excluding them from regions they consider as being "allies" - has not gone down well. SRG has yet to discover the official response of the SLU as it remains within cabinet circles, though it can report that the DSA ambassador to the LSI region is on record as saying, despite a conflict of interest, that "...I will be fully supportive of the LSI and its members, regardless of what course of action is taken here." Indicating, perhaps, some support for the idea of quasi-merger into the DSA.

[Multilingual Bulletin]Welcome to the first multilingual SRG News bulletin! Willkommen beim ersten mehrsprachigen Bulletin von SRG News! Bienvenido al primer boletín plurilingüe de SRG News! NEW SLU DELEGATE
SRG is very pleased to confirm that the longstanding Speaker of the Social Liberal Union, Northern Inertia, has succeeded retiring Delegate Anaaxes in their position as leader of the region. The transition was smooth and completed extremely quickly.
There were not many contenders for the position this time around - and a number of nations, including Mons Garle, were tipped to support Anaaxes for a further term - until this was ruled out as unconstitutional by the regional administration. Junior Interior Minister Karl Otto Verde was quoted as saying on the change of Delegate: "Though we were disappointed that Anaaxes was not permitted to run for a further term, we are extremely grateful to them for their superb leadership of the SLU through what has a been tricky period. We're confident that the successor, Norther Inertia, has all the relevant experience and skills to lead the region, and we look forward to working with them whilst continuing in our role as regional Domestic Affairs Minister."
Some anti-SLU critics have expressed concerns that the new delegate will seek to further integrate and centralise the region, however senior Mons Garlean officials in the SLU have strongly denied this. The Mons Garlean Ambassador's representative told us that "these allegations by the far-right are, as usual, completely unfounded. The SLU has to pull together for its own security - and for the sceptics to try and use this as political capital is absolutely disgraceful and frankly absurd." A recent survey conducted by SRG in Leopolderhügel has shown that around 65% of Mons Garlean citizens either support or strongly support continued membership of the SLU, and only 18% said they wished or strongly wished to leave the union.
The Prime Minister, R. A. Thomas later commented: "The SLU is absolutely vital to Mons Garlean security and prosperity. Without the assistance of our neighbours, we'd be in a far worse position regarding Kayashné Hanokewá in the East, not to mention the economic benefits that being an influential member of the bloc brings. If we left, we'd be worse off in terms of security, the economy, and diplomacy. I will always support stronger ties with our neighbours, and I think I speak for the majority of Monsmänner in that regard."

[Bulletin]Welcome to the SRG News bulletin! Willkommen beim Bulletin von SRG News! Bienvenido al boletín de SRG News! PRAISE FOR ACTING DELEGATE
The Nation of Lawattsia has this evening received praise from across the political landscape in Mons Garle for its calm, collected and rational handling as Temporary Delegate of the recent SLU leadership situation, after a number of internal crises meant that Mons Garle was for a time unable to continue in its duties. Foreign Secretary Karl-Wilhelm Stein described Lawattsia's delegacy as a "welcome of period of stability and leadership that the SLU had unfortunately, for a number of reasons, been lacking", whilst SLU Affairs Minister Tsaháne Kwits'eh added, "Lawattsian pro-activism and initiative should be an example to all nations; they've kept our wonderful, world-leading democracy here in the SLU stable and well-maintained during this time."
Mons Garle has now resumed its duties as Delegate and the government has expressed its intention to bolster participation in regional outreaches and democracy, in keeping with the spirit of the SLU's founding nation, Ainland.
MONS GARLEAN ELECTIONS
Recent elections held in Mons Garle have once again returned a left-leaning, liberal government, lead by the Liberals under President Baldur Þorbjörn Gunnarsson, who was himself only recently elected as leader of the party, with socialist Rainier Zimmermann as Deputy President. In coalition with the socialists and green groups, the new President hopes to continue his predecessor's legacy of high economic growth and prosperity, whilst hoping to further longstanding efforts to resolve the guerrilla conflict in the eastern highland regions, as well as integration in bigger cities. The son of an Icelandic immigrant, Mr Gunnarsson has previously expressed his desire to see further integration between communities in Mons Garle.
With a combined 59% of the vote, a slight decrease on the 63.1% for former President J. S. Holzer's administration, Mr Gunnarsson believes he has a renewed mandate to continue the work of his predecessor and has announced he will form a new cabinet and select new regional ministers in the near future.*
During publication the names of newly-appointed State Ministers were received and have been announced on the national factbook page.
CENSUS FIGURES IN
The results of the first digitally-based census from April have now been released on the website of the National Statistics Office, broadly matching the predictions of demographers and social experts. The current population now stands at 46,788,987, a slightly lower than expected increase of 2.46% over the past two years since 2014. In terms of ethnic groupings, those who identified as 'white' now stand at 19.98%, 'black' 6.31%, 'indigenous' 48.88%, 'asian' 1.01%, 'mixed' 23.18% and 'other' 0.64%, showing drops in the percentage of people identifying as white and asian, but significant increases in the number of self-identifying indigenous and mixed race people. Additionally, the percentage of people identifying as Mons Garlean Citizens by birth showed a decrease from 82.54% in 2014 to 79.80% in 2016, with citizens of other SLU states climbing from 3.16% to 5.01%.
The census also showed population shifts across the country, with growing numbers of people, more than a million, moving away from the eastern province of Asikunáwe, which has been embroiled in guerrilla warfare for more than a decade, to western regions, principally Leopolderhügel and Williams' Bay.
