How did you discover the SLU?

Hope this hasn't been done before (shoot me down if it has). Basically, I was just curious about how you guys found the SLU and why you chose it over all the other regions.

Myself, I found myself into the SLU mere hours after joining NS. I was looking through the region tags and the SLU just kept coming up in all the tags I liked (as well as a few others). I checked it out and it seemed really cool so I joined and then to seal the deal, I made a forum account.

I actually found the SLU late in my Nation States career. Vernima is part of my second set of nations, the first died a year or two ago the first time I found the site. I joined because one of my friends mentioned it, New Differentia in fact. I checked it out, joined up, and have been happily residing here ever since!

About two minutes after I created Avaerilon 3 years and 6 days ago, I received two telegrams; one form the Genesis Corporation, which didn't interest me, and one from the Social Liberal Union, which did. The rest is, as they say, history.

I also moved here mere minutes after joining. I searched the world index for liberal regions, and I found the SLU soon afterwards. I've been here ever since.

I originally found out about NationStates while on a (now dead) forum called The Flood, which I would commonly frequent as a regular. There was a thread on there about NS, and I had previously tried out Cyber Nations a year before, though I didn't enjoy it. I decided I would give NS a go, and found that it was much more enjoyable than other nations sims out there. Once I had figured out the game mechanics, I then searched for regions under the tag "liberal", found the then >300 nations SLU, and joined.

Anaaxes was my first nation on NS. I also moved to the SLU shortly after I created it. I think it was Avaerilon who sent the recruitment telegram to me. He's also the one who welcomed me.  ;) Loved it here ever since.

I got a telegram from several regions while deciding what to do, waited a bit on it, then decided that the SLU telegram was best. The community seemed incredibly friendly and the open liberal slant is nice as it can get boring talking with only socialists/communists. NSHistory only goes back to July 16, 2011 for me.

I migrated from one of the region's allies, that would be the Democratic Socialist Assembly. I felt that I wasn't really integrating there, and I was also disappointed in missing out in their elections.

Well, minutes after I created my NationState, lots of telegrams came flooding in.
Some of them seemed really odd?, but I found the one that Anaaxes sent, and I thought that this Union was the only one worth joining, with all the things about civil rights and political freedom, and the telegram also seemed really friendly.

And so, I have been residing here, and now, scrolling through the Forum!

P.S - I can say that I absolutely love this Union!

I had a nation a couple of years back which I kept for a while, and then CTEd, can't even remember its name. Came back a while later as Mons and lived in World Alliance for a while. Can't actually remember how I found the SLU, I think I came across it from the tags but I could be wrong.

In the end, I was impressed by the policies of the region which I once had, need help trying to get back to the policies that are at par with this region, and I would like to gather everybody in the region to help write a resolution to condemn Filthy Caz, and liberate us the easy way.

When I made my nation, this guy named "Ainland" PM'd me to tell me about this great new region he'd founded that same day. It looked pretty cool so I figured I'd hang out there for the week or so I played the game.

I found it through WorldVision oddly enough, when someone else from the region (I can't remember who exactly) was involved in it as well, and I noticed they were from the SLU, so I gave it a look and haven't looked back since (at least, I think this is what happened; it's a long time ago now)

After joining Nationstates and reading all the recruiting TG's I decided to just play the game without moving into a region right away.
..but then I got a recruitment TG from the SLU and I knew I'd found my place!
(It was mainly because Ainland ended it with "Have a cookie!" Haha! :P jk)
