As you probably have heard, I'll be hosting a diplomatic dinner RP in the coming days. This thread contains all the info you need beforehand, and also gives you a place to formally register your interest by signing-up. Feel free to ask any questions here  :)

What exactly is this RP?

This is a typical diplomatic RP, where players each write a segment of a story in-character like a novel. The King of Avaerilon is hosting a dinner to celebrate SLUan democracy and unity, and also give foreign figures a real taste of the Magnificent Kingdom. It's also the kind of thing heads-of-state tend to do. The tech level is modern AND fantasy tech (i.e. magic), so feel free to arrive in a car with your staff at your side. And there will be wizards attending- not only could one not keep the wizardry from any large meal, but the King also happens to be one himself.


When will this dinner be taking place?

On the 2nd of July (Aregflen), the evening before Avaerilon's founding day. The RP itself will last as long as it takes in real terms, but the in-character (IC) timeframe will be that evening (and possibly early morning the next day). 

Where will this dinner be held?

His Majesty owns his own private residence (he doesn't like to leech off the taxpayer),  Nēricawt Qawdarglan ('Silverwood Hall'), which is in the south of the region of Avalon, central Fereldan (that's the large central isle of Avaerilon with the west shaped like Wales and the south a bit like Italy). The hall is a large, country residence, not unlike a typical British baronial residence, with landscaped grounds and the suchlike.

Who may attend?

His Majesty has extended the invite to all and sundry in terms of top figures in the SLU, so you may dispatch your head of state or government, minister of foreign affairs, another official figures of importance, or all of them at once.

Rules?

I, as the OP, have the power of life and death over the RP, but I won't be dictating you. As long as you're reasonable and realistic within the boundaries of the RP, you can do pretty much whatever you wish. If you're ever unclear, contact me first!

What information do I need to supply?

You need to clearly state each person attending, and give a brief account of who they are and what they do in your country. List any dietary requirements, and maybe give a brief bio.

Can I bring my own food to celebrate the international atmosphere?

You may request that the chef include one dish from your nation in the menu, if you really want to. You must post in this thread if you would like to do so, taking care to list the ingredients if need be (please bear in mind certain foods are not consumed in Avaerilon for cultural reasons and their inclusion in a dinner would be a faux pas). As this is a formal dinner, you may not bring anything with you in terms of food or drink (the latter of which will be more than plentiful).

Mr Törpedou is a career diplomat. He is the former Assistant Director of the MFA's Research Institute for Neighbour Policy, where he worked on developing international infrastructure projects. Eirik Törpedou is a graduate of Vonu School for Operations Technology.

[Northern Inertia]

The President of Northern Inertia, Frederic Oestrond (53) will be attending. A veteran minister, Oestrond has served as President for three years, and is starting to worry about his next election next year. He is the archtypical Inertian career politician: dull and dour, but also diplomatic, and eager to present his native country as something much more grand and interesting than it actually is. He has a keen interest in foreign cultures, and makes sure to never miss a chance to make a state visit abroad.

OOC: Just for fun, I'm going to open an IC thread shortly where anyone who wants to join the RP (i.e. those who've posted above and those who still have yet to post) will be presented with an invitation from HMRM the King. They are encouraged to respond to, in character, confirm who will be attending. The first letter will be addressed to your foreign minister or equivalent, the second to the actual person or persons attending.

This is something those who've posted above will be encouraged to do in-addition to anyone joining from now on.

Well, I was going to do an IC thing, but I guess it can wait :D

In attendance will be the following persons:

Herr Garrett van de Polder VI, Patriarch of the Republic
Herr Van de Polder is the Aartsvader, or Patriarch of the Newdepolderian Republic, meaning he is the elected head of state and government. He is known for his far left policy, especially in the areas of immigration, healthcare, drugs, and weaponry restrictions. He is also a vehement environmentalist. The Patriarch is a doctor of anthropological linguistics, and is eager to try out his Avaerilonian in a formal setting. It should be noted that Herr Van de Polder is a devout Vajrayana Buddhist, and as such, does not eat any meat products of any sort. For the same reason, the Patriarch also does not consume any alcoholic beverages.

Herr Adriaan Frieser, First Patriarchal Advisor
Herr Frieser is the Eerste Aartsvaderaal Raadgever, or First Patriarchal Advisor, meaning he is a member of the Aartsvaderal Raad (Patriarchal Council), similar in function to a cabinet, and the chiefest advisor to the Patriarch on general matters. Although opposed in politics, Herr Frieser is a close personal friend to the Patriarch. Herr Frieser comes from a business background, having served both as Director of the state-owned Newdepolderian National Agriculture and as Director-General of General Economics during past administrations.

Herr Maarten van Rijn, Director-General of Foreign Policy
Herr Van Rijn is the Directeur-Generaal van Buitenlandse Beleid, or Director-General of Foreign Policy, a position similar in function to a foreign minister. He is an experienced diplomat and shares many of the Patriarch's liberal views, including on immigration. It should be noted that Herr Van Rijn has a severe allergy to tubers such as potatoes.

Background:
I graduated from Monswantel University with a Masters in Political Science and a Bachelor in Economics. Prior to my current position, I served as Ambassador to Claudaria.
