Hi there, everyone!
As you may well have seen from the preliminary sign-up thread that was advertised a while back, I've been working on an additional map for the region, to compliment our world-famous, much-envied Regional Map. This new map is a flag map, which instead of showing various topographical features of each nation alongside their name, displays the nation's flag within the space the nation occupies. These maps are starting to become quite popular, and they are nice in themselves. We're staying ahead-of-the-pack because, like the standard map, this is bigger, more detailed and more professional than just about anything on NationStates that I've seen.
So, without further delay, here is our brand-new Regional Flag Map 1.0!
Why are there fewer nations on this map than on the current Regional Map?
For the simple reason that this map is newer and more up-to-date than the current Regional Map (which is going to be updated soon, by the way). A lot of nations that were signed-up for the map have since CTE'd, with a few moving to different regions. While a select few former nations remain on the flag map, they are there due to the great importance associated with them.
I thought all the flags were going to be as hi-res as possible?
Not all of you responded to my requests and left me to use your lower-res NS website flags :P With some, I created imitations on MS Paint, since they were relatively straight-forward to replicate, but others I garnered from the site.
I'd like to be on this map! Do I have to be on the other map too?
Yes; this map is based-around the same lot system as the standard map, and it would be illogical to have nations on the flag map who weren't on the regional map. If you'd like to be on this map, first take a look at the Regional Map 2.5 thread I linked previously in this thread and follow the instructions accordingly. Once I've approved your spot on the standard map, you just need to send me a hi-res (.png file format is best) image of your national flag, either through posting it below, telegramming me on NationStates, or sending me a message right here on the forum.
How did you make the map?
My usual combination of Paint.NET and good old MS Paint 8-)
