Founding of Kanoria - Overview. The largest Island in Kanoria, Kahnyat, was Settled around 190 old era, by a group of Nordic explorers. Fourty years later, another group of settlers arrived from an unknown region, and began claiming resources as their own. After many years of tense relations, and the occasional border scuffle, a divide in ideology within the newcomers ranks lead to them seeking assistance from the descendants of the Nords. Jarl Graincs, the leader of the time welcomed them into society, and even granted them an Advocate in the Serattc' (a form of semi-elected counsel). Following a negotiation, the remaining Ryghans (as the second settlers were later named), agreed to depart Kanhnyat, and live on the second Island, which they named Rhya. Kahnyat transcended the Serattc' system, beginning the 'Hope' era (also known as the mid-times) some time later, and moved to a highly democratic system known as Sernorn, with the upper house known as Serat-co, and no figurehead, but several directly elected roles. This system is still what is used today, with only a few modifications. The Advocate system survives, also largely unchanged.
Both Kahnyat, and Rhya co-operated for this time in expanding to the remaining islands, and exploring further-afield. Many technologies, and living techniques were developed in conjunction. Though relations between the leaders of the two nations remained tense at best.
Rhya's leaders slowly fell further and further away from public opinion, trying to impose dictatorial, exploitative rule. This lead, inevitably, to a revolution. The ruling classes didn't give up easily though were slowly beaten back. In despiration, they turned to Kahnyat, trying to cease power on the neighboring island by coercion and bribery. Enough of the old code of honor survived that they were struck down where they stood, with the exception of one, Bearne, who had remained on Rhya, holding the last stronghold of the former regime. Bearne, abandoned her stronghold, and set about decimating supplies on the island. Eventually, she was captured, but escaped. The mod swore revenge, her fate was merciful however, leading the way for modern, reformative Justice.
Now Bearne is hailed as a national hero, as in time, she accepted democracy, and led the dissidents to create a relief foundation, and take their place in Sernon. She them submitted herself to the mercy of the people. She was punished in some unknown way, that is said to have appalled all. Though, after a time, she took a seat in Serat-co.
Following the rebuilding of Rhya, the two countries slowly fused, Rhya having used so much of Kahnyat's infrastructure for in excess of 60 years, the move seemed natural when combined with the closely aligned ideologies. Since that time the whole Island chain has slowly joined Sernon, and Kanoria has been shaped into what it is today.

Comanici is a plot of land in Southern Africa that includes most of Namibia, South Africa, Botswana and parts of Mozambique. But it did not start out this way. The first settlers were the Greeks in 1596. They landed at Alexander (The Great) Bay at the heart of the Orange River. The population grew to almost 5,000 by 1702 and had extended across the Orange River to a new settlement called Oranjemund. These pilgrims had no idea there were native people (usually referred to as "The San') living in the area until 1719 when a young Greek man named Leo Rhodes was abducted and later traded back to the Greek settlers for food and clothing. In 1724 a Dutch man named Pieter Windhoek lead a voyage of 14 ships departed from Rotterdam to the new, prosperous colony. By 1725 the population had almost quadrupled in size to about 19,000 pilgrims. Later pilgrimages from Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Germany and Portugal had the population to 80,000 by 1750. Until 1650, the colony had been run by the Greek Government, but elections were finally held for the first time in 1652, which elected Vincinetta Carioti of Italy as the governess of the New Greek City-State. Governess Carioti put in place a judicial system and legislative system, as well as the first army and police force. She also encouraged European Immigration. Especially from The Netherlands, Italy, France and Germany. In 1758, what was formerly known as Alexander Baii, extended southward. As far east as Cape Agulhas and as far south as Cape Agulhas. A pretty simple sliver of land which then was known as Cape Dias. (After the famous Portuguese explorer credited for finding the Southernmost Tip of Africa.) The land was greatly extended because of the imminent approaching 100,000 population mark. Major settlements were Cape Agulhas City, Cape Town City and Seldanas. This tripled Cape Dias's economy because the natural bays found in the new territory were great for fishing and stoping mid-point for voyagers from Europe to India. It also made Cape Dias's population increase to a gnarly 120,000 inhabitants. In 1766, slave labour became popular amongst The Cape's bustling citizens. They enslaved many natives and Indians, this made Cape Dias unable to stay in the SLU because its civil rights went to "Unheard Of". In 1774 Cape Dias changed it's name again to Cape Orange. Probably because with all of the helpful slave labour, farmers were now able to grow more citrus in the Mediterranean-Style Climate of South Africa. In 1788, borders were increased eastwards to the eastern border of the Transvaal Colony and northwards up the Skeleton Coast. This is the point in time when the English became very mesmerized with Cape Orange. New settlements were Walvis Bay, Swonkapmund, Bloemfontein and Welkom. In 1796, The British conquered Cape Orange and extended the borders northward and eastward to Victoria Falls and the Limpopo River. These are now the current borders that Comanici uses today. The British only had control for two years and than the Italians took over the main ports which basically turned the entire country over to Italy. The new ruler was Queen L'Albatross Alexandria. Queen L'Albatross Alexandria personally changed the name "Cape Orange" to Comanici. Comanici became its own, sovereign country on August 8, 1798. It had its bicentennial year in 1998 which was celebrated with people on sailboats in major harbors all over the country. In 1814, a great influx of Italian Settlers took the population up to a million. The reason being silver. Silver was first discovered in central Comanici near the Witwatersrand Mountains. This sprouted settlements such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, Randfontein, Centurion, and Ruthensburg. Apartheid was initiated in Comanici in 1898 which segragated the whites and the "Coloureds", Africans and Asians. This was the end of slavery in Comanici.
April 9, 1953- Comanici is officialy recognized as a first-world country.
Apartheid ended in Comanici in 1974 when the Soviets took over and wiped the land clean of most of its endangered wildlife which is now on the comeback after almost forty years. Soviet rule ended in 1989, giving the power of Presidency to Sriram Sindararajin until 2012 when the dictatorial "Republic" was thrown over by Caspar Q. Van Maritz who is now the current president.

Cenian space was originally named Lelmeyah. The area was not stitched together and was composed of planetary republics and kingdoms vying for control of their various planets. Before the discovery of the hyperdrive, most were like the way Earth is today. Most planets did not have planet-wide governments, although a few had the equivalent of the United Nations and some had full-fledged planetary governments. Internal strife and discord were common. Blaster technology was discovered on Cenaci in 1,506BC and spread across the planet, making wars all the more destructive. Several kingdoms, including the namesake of Ceni and others such as Ankiathon, dominated this area. Today's capitol city of Cenial was the capitol of a Cenial Republic.
Other city-states were in existence on major planets such as Katinal and Tatek. These city-states, especially in the case of Tatek, fought amongst themselves. Although the severity of these conflicts are up to debate, it is often recognized that when organized Cenians from Cenaci landed on these planets, the native peoples were subjugated with ease, somewhat similar to the European colonization of Africa. These planets were considered above their time in the day, as most planets had tribes or other familial organization. They roamed their planets looking for food and a place to sleep. Different organization and technology soon developed to meet their needs. Agriculture developed similar to Earth's development and herders on Ille were able to domesticate two animals that are in common use today, the faltry and the sinkrar, around 1,374BC. Other important milestones in the development of more 'advanced' culture were the settling down in cities and development of advanced concepts.

This is a shame, but I understand why. What threshold are you waiting for? And will there be more than one competition running at once for those of us (me, not being selfish at all) who like to RP?

I'd join, but I can't squish Kandorith's history in 1,500 words or less..... The first chapter of Kandorith's history's novel is already 8,000 words....

That's a shame; even a brief overview of the earliest days would suffice.

Here's Garondy's earliest history... a bit conventional I know but fun to research and write anyway!
The earliest evidence of habitation is found in bronze age mound tombs in the southern Garondish Basin (c. 850 BCE). Throughout the 1st Century, several waves of the Celto-Germanic Lugii people arrived via the Zmon River valley from the east in search of amber and control over its trade, as described by Tacitus in his Annales and Germania. The Lugii found the western basins and plains virtually uninhabited, allowing the six major tribes-- the Helvecony, Menardy, Manimy, Helisy, Pantarsy, and Naharvaly-- to each settle somewhat apart from the others.
Imperial legions arrived in c. 115 CE, primarily to establish control over the copper mines in the southern coastal hills from their base at Ovestum, modern day Hova Ostan. The region supplied the Empire with massive coastal and live oak timbers for its naval fleet through the end of the 3rd Century.
The next two hundred years witnessed successive waves of invaders and refugees from both the eastern plains and the western seas. The Empire's hold was finally broken in 453 CE by multiple waves of invading Garondish horsemen. The Garonds, ruled as highly organized chiefdoms, established hegemony over the vastly larger local population of Lugii, various Germanic, Baltic and Gothic peoples, and the descendants of imperial soldiers.
Christianized by the Byzantines before reaching Garondy, the Garonds established the first catholic diocese at Cahargis in 502 and a second at Canony in 524. They also introduced new animals, including massive hunting dogs that were used to subdue the forest wolves that had terrorized the Lugii settlements for centuries.

Kanoria: 5 or 6. No, just the one. A lot of people who don't RP write some of the best ones that I've seen.

@averilion, Okay, I understand why for all of that. I might TG you in a couple of days about volunteering to help with activities somehow, if there is any way to do that?
