- Via defending and the WA, am becoming a more well-known member of the NationStates Community
What does this means for you?
I am an experienced and active part of NationStates and our community. I work hard and have always been involved in our region in some capacity and have been influential in how it has been built. You can count on me to work hard and do what I can in any position I hold. Our region is only strengthened by increased activity and I am very active in it. I have written or co-written much of the region's legislation, from the Constitution, to defining what Ministries exist, to how elections are counted. All of this matters to how our region operates and I have always been a part of it.
Positions
In this position I am running for, it is apolitical since it is a part of the Court. My job would be, first, to hand down sentences and, second, to make rulings on Constitutionality, both with my other Justices. I would work cooperatively with them to ensure balanced rulings. For the first, I have written a significant amount of legislation and know the ins-and-outs of our laws. I am an understanding person, so I can balance between those two when making rulings with my fellow Justices.
For the second, as the author of the Constitution, I know about much of its little details and I know what I personally intended. However, I accept that, to use a literature critic's term, "the author is dead". It is the text itself that matters and it has portions which are open to interpretation. It is my job as Justice to listen to arguments and see if they make legitimate sense. If they present an interpretation which is more compelling that other interpretations on the matter, I must put my weight behind it even if it is not what I originally thought.
In addition I will:
- Work and discuss with the Justices on opinions and take our time to ensure due process
- Ensure the legitimacy of evidence and make sure all proceedings in the Court are valid
- Reduce my authorship the Open Parliament to reduce the chances of an issue in the future, while at the same time excusing myself if any issue of if I can be balanced occurs.
Final thoughts
In closing, I am looking forward to serving this region, our region, in the future in whatever position the Open Parliament and the government thinks I am best suited for but I hope you will all consider me for Free Justice. At this time, I would like to ask everyone to post any questions or concerns that they may have.
