IMPORTANT! Proposed addition to map applications Hi there, everyone! I've had the idea for a while, and have decided that maybe it would be beneficial to include land 'lots' in our application process. These lots would not appear on the official regional map; rather, nations would select the numbered lot they want for their nation. This would not affect nations already on the mapTo demonstrate, I might draw a border around one of the beige areas of the map currently uninhabited. I might label this "number 12." A new nation might ask for said number, and fill-in a table detailing the topographical features. This, in my view, makes things a little easier for all concerned. However, since I am your minister and the map is a popular SLU achievement, I want to hear your views on the matter. I am putting this up to a general consultation, to take place in this thread for as long as it feels appropriate to discuss it. If you like the idea, please post and say why you like it. If you feel the opposite, please post and say why you don't. Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

Why not having nations "reserve" some part of the beige land and have a map whit all the borders.
I don't really like having you drawing borders for nations. Or at least a nation can modify that number 12 borders.

That's sort of the system we have now, really.

Yes, I do like the map as it is now, but I'm not an expert on such things, so I'll refrain from making any more detailed comments for now. :D

Avaerilon, this sounds like a wonderful idea and I'm sorry for not commenting sooner. It should help alleviate some vagueness associated with where exactly on the map a state wants to be.

Any thoughts from anyone else?

Would the sea be divided up in the same way as the land? So that nations can choose their own coastline if they so choose?

What exactly do you mean?

Would portions of the sea also be assigned numbered lots, for people to claim?

No, the regional map generally supposes a nation's territorial waters; when areas of two or more nations are close to each other, I add the red border to show where the maritime border is. I think adding these extra lots would complicate matters too much.

I have to ask then (and sorry if I am being slow), how would one now apply for an island nation to be included on the map?

That would entail a special request (don't worry, you're not). I would like to encourage more nations to make use of the excellent continental areas we have to spare, but as an island nation myself, I wouldn't want to deprive anyone of their preference.

Thank you Avaerilon, you have successfully assuaged my concerns for future nations in my (and your own) position.
Just to check did I get in early enough, or should I fill a Special request?

The application system has not yet been approved. If it changes, there'll be a HUGE announcement.
