Franco-Lowlands would like to propose a system of regional parks. The parks would be open to hiking, camping, hunting ect. All development on the land would have to go through a regional body (Regional Park System of the Social Liberal Union). Any member nation will be able to propose a land area to be designated as a regional park. In order to be a regional park, the area must have cultural and historic significance. The land would also have to be endangered, or simply known for its beauty.

That sounds awesome. Could we then show them on the Regional Map?

One can walk freely on all land in North American Republics, so long as they follow safety protocol. My entire island would be lit up on that map.

Development in your nation must go through a regional body?

If addressed to us, could you please rephrase that? Do you mean commercial development, housing developments, etc.? We follow a decentralized planned economy approach that relegates general land development to the numerous councils of our island, so long as it is for the public good.

You said that your entire nation would be lit up, but according to Franco-Lowlands, development in those areas would be considered by a regional body.

Ah, sorry. Upon a re-reading of the proposal, I would have to say that only our mountain ranges would be proposed, as would much of the forest around them.

What exactly is meant by "development of the land"?

The idea was that a regional body would regulate land usage. No energy exploration or large scale commercial or housing developments.

We have "National Parks", which are basically areas outside the Metropolitan Area and are more akin to greenbelts, and "Protected Areas" which are like the national parks of most other countries. How would the fact that hunting is a serious criminal offence in Phing Phong work under the Regional Parks system, which would encompass the Protected Areas if we signed up?

I have that concern, also; hunting is illegal in Avaerilon.

Hunting doesn't have to happen in every park, so if it is against the law in your nation, or is a cultural faux pas, you don't have to have hunting in parks in your nation. I think that there should be different classifications of parks, like wild life reserves, cultural/historical sites, open expanses, and regional aquatic parks. Wild life reserves would be land allocated to protect an endangered species, cultural/historical sites will be significant sites that are protected by a regional body, open expanses would be something like Avaerilon proposed, and regional aquatic parks would be expanses of water that are protected by the region (this could include lakes, coral reefs, bays ect.).
