Recently there has been some discussion, and implementation, of laws that ban certain religious wear, particularly traditional Islamic clothing. I am wondering what you, the nations of the SLU think about these laws. Are these laws protecting secularism, or are they xenophobic laws aimed at keeping Islamic culture out of Western Europe?

In my country the 'full' burqa is forbidden in public. You can debate the difference between that and a nun in traditional clothing, but I just don't feel safe when I can't see someone's face.
Luckily the orthodox jew clothing isn't forbidden. I like their outfit :p

I think that you should be able to wear anything you want or nothing if you so please.

In the UK, you can wear just about anything you like. The same goes for burqhas. I don't like the fact the full burqhas hide person's face, and that a significant number of women might well be forced to wear them by their family. At the same time, banning them would be wrong. I think the moderate Islamic reformers should do their best to educate their peers that Allah would not mind if a married woman was seen by another man. It may well help with integration; in some areas of the UK, there is an issue with this.
