I am Normandy, or Norm, or N&P. Call me what you like, I'm standing for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs. As some of you may or may not remember, I have held the position before (I must admit a long time ago), and would relish the chance to return to the office once more. I believe that I am more than an establishment figure or a safe pair of hands; I have indeed pushed for change within the existing structures, whether successful or otherwise. A vote for me is a vote for experience, but not someone who is unwilling to learn. I am happy to see many new faces (at least to me) standing for ministerial positions, and I would be happy to work with all of them, whether as MoFA, as deputy MoFA or just as a general citizen.
I must admit that my term as Deputy Minister of Immigration has not been brilliant, but that has been due to my own personal life, and now that things have settled down again I am ready to give back to a region to which I owe a lot and which I enjoy being a member of.
Back during my first term I called for a more open and interregionalist approach, and I am happy to see the region is open to working with others. However, many of the initiatives, including the Interregional Debating Discord server, have been lacklustre, and so I feel we need to reanalyse our strategy, and I will work to create a policy paper suggesting ways to improve our foreign affairs, and then look to enact those recommendations as soon as possible.
As a means of aiding this, I will aim to reamp our Ambassadorial program, trying to ensure that there is an ambassador for each friendly region; hopefully, working with other regions we can establish a path forward together, in cooperation. I will also look into expanding our embassy program, whilst obviously ensuring they still fall under the rules of the constitution, something I ensured by collating and publishing a report on potential partners during my last term. I will also review all of our current embassy arrangements in this spirit.
