Hello everyone! As I am running for delegate, I think I should release my official campaign statement.
As a longtime member of the region, I have engaged in much discussion that has helped me form my political identity, and I thank everyone who has debated me. I have seen the region go through periods of growth, decline, and even an invasion, and I look forward to help bring the region into another period of prosperity (now that we are safe from invasion with Ainland here), whatever the result of the election is!
As Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs, I have learned the structure of regional government, and if elected as delegate I will work with the other members of the regional government to continue my learning about regional law and history. I also pledge to increase my already frequent activity if elected, as I will check in most days. An advantage of electing me as delegate is that, as the second most endorsed nation in the region, the transition will be fairly smooth.
Here are 5 actions that I want to take as the next regional WA Delegate:
1. I will continue the actions of previous delegates in voting with the majority of nations on all WA proposals. I also will propose the formation of a committee of nations in the region that will try to author new WA proposals, as the majority of recent proposals to the WA have been sub-par. I hope to increase our international standing through this committee. I will hope to work with the regional government and ordinary member states in forming and voting on this proposal.
2. I will endorse a plan proposed by Austerain in their campaign announcement, which proposes that we loosen our embassy requirements in order to increase our diplomatic standing in the world. I also will propose a plan to appoint ambassadors to all of our embassy regions. I will hope to work with the regional government and ordinary member states in forming and voting on these plans.
3. I will continue consistent polling that I have started as Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs, as it sparks great discussion! I will continue to take poll requests from any residing nation in the region. I will also be willing to hand over some polling responsibilities to other members of the regional government.
4. I will propose a plan that will move at least some role-playing to the regional message board, as role-playing increases regional activity and having it on the RMB increases the number of nations participating than the number of nations that would participate in forum RP. I will hope to work with the regional government and ordinary member states in forming and voting on this plan.
5. I will propose a change to the regional "fair but firm" policy. I support the policy, as it shows that members of the region are actually at least partially socially liberal. However, I feel that as the plan currently is, it is too harsh on nations that are conservative on social issues because of religion and nations that are only slightly authoritarian. Therefore, I propose that nations must keep their civil rights and political freedoms above "some" instead of "average" for them to avoid being affected by "fair but firm". I will hope to work with the regional government and ordinary member states in forming and voting on this plan.
To conclude, I have thank you's for the outgoing delegate Mons Garle for their excellent service to the region, the new speaker Odd Republic for smoothly running the election process, and my opponent Austerain for an excellent start to their campaign.
Here's to a great future for the SLU!
