Hello there, SLU! I am your current deputy minister of foreign affairs, Northern Inertia, and I am running for minister of FA once again this election. Here, I will briefly describe what I would bring to this important role if elected. Continuity. As someone who has been a member of the administration and the ministry of Foreign Affairs over the last election period, and an ambassador even before that, I am well-versed in the workings of this ministry, and understand the immense importance of an active minister in order to defend the region from outside threats as well as maintaining a productive dialogue with our allies. An effective and alert CUS. One of the main foci of my ministryship would be the Combined Union Security Agency, the backbone of our region's defense. I would ensure CUS operations are well coordinated under the supervision of the Chief Officer, and that the region stays on top of any developments in the interregional security landscape – I consider myself relatively well-acquainted with the R/D scene, and can confidently say that this is the case for several of the current CUS officers, as well. This is the foundation the defense of the region should be built on. An active search for prospective allies and like-minded regions. As embassy requests made to our region tend to be from sub-par collectors, it is important that the ministry instead conduct an active search for regions which could provide a productive partnership in terms of security co-operation and iterregional events. This would especially concern ideologically like-minded regions. Thank you for your time, and thank you for keeping our democracy alive by voting!

How do you intend to find these new regions (that I agree we aught to find), NI, in my experience, it is an exceptionally hard task, do you have a method already worked out, or will you be developing that as you go?

Just to ask, do you participate in the gameplay forums? Have you been on any raids/liberations? How would you rank your familiarity with prominent r/ders, such as Rifty, Nephimir, and District XIV?

Thanks for bringing this up, Kanoria. It's something I really want to clarify. Finding suitable regions is an exceptionally hard task - it is by no means certain that there even is a region out there that fulfills our requirements and we could gain something from a relationship with. I have already, during this last election period, occasionally looked around for suitable regions, with little success. Our requirements are stringent, but I fully support them as they help us recognise worthwile relationships and avoid interregional conflicts we really should have nothing to do with. Still, one approach is to look for up-and-coming regions, which we may then perhaps help become more established (this would preferably not involve tinkering with the requirements); in NS, regions may gain significantly in membership over short period of time. The Versutian Federation is a prime example of this, and I believe we did well in establishing ties with them so quickly. Whether we potentially could gain something from a relationship with another region can also be diffuse at times - this, especially, is where the Open Parliament must be consulted. Just to ask, do you participate in the gameplay forums? Have you been on any raids/liberations? How would you rank your familiarity with prominent r/ders, such as Rifty, Nephimir, and District XIV? Thanks for the question! While I have never actively taken part in R/D, I regularly read the GP forum, which is indeed my chief source of information on this area. I try to always be up-to-date on any major events, and I am more or less familiar with the techniques involved in raiding and defending. All this, of course, includes familiarity with what prominent gameplayers, such as the ones you mention, do and stand for. Still, I am well aware that there are people in this region, especially within CUS, who are much more experienced than I am in this field. This is why I consider the current, relatively well-staffed Agency such an invaluable asset.

Thank you for the answer NI. Do you think it might be worth getting a couple of nations to 'scout' a couple of times a week and report back to you?(purely theoretical that, just looking to improve the idea, because I agree with it). That might give the added boost to engagement in regional affairs.

That's an interesting idea; while there would likely not be an awful lot of work involved time-wise, it would no doubt be helpful, and could be a very good way especially for newer nations to get involved. Perhaps it could also be combined to the ambassadorships? It is certainly an idea I'd consider very seriously if I were elected.

Let me know (if you are elected), if you want me to try to thrash the idea out with you, or to take up such a role to try it out or anything.
I just enjoy thinking of initiatives :).
