Cemaes formally proposed Azerzia as Speaker but having been nominated ourselves by Goncar, I have allowed our name to go forward to stimulate debate within the membership and to allow them to exercise their democratic right to elect the next Speaker of the SLU.
Experience in the SLU
Cemaes joined the SLU relatively recently, just over 2 months ago. In that time I have:
To expand on the above, I have enthuastically got involved from an early stage with the recruitment team and have spent hours recruiting new members to the SLU - helping the region to grow in size from 85-90 members when I arrived to its record level high present number of 190.
I have recently been made Ambassador to our newest embassies which has given me experience in foreign relations which I wish to continue.
I have also taken it upon myself to promote the excellent Roleplay Ice Hockey League that was started by Michutopia. My weekly updates have now been taken up by NAR for the weekly SLU Journal.
Communication - This for me is the role that I found myself championing in the months since my arrival in the SLU.
I have given regular updates to the region on membership figures as well as sending a personal welcome telegram to new members to make them feel at home and have gotten into the habit of welcoming them on the region's RMB as well. The weekly Ice Hockey results and comment as mentioned above is another facet of this. In a short space of time, I have aleady become the 4th highest contributor on the Forum and would like to think that comments made have been constructive for the well-being and growth of our region.
In the Forum, I have regularly been chomping on the bit with regards to membership recruitment and also the need to deal with those who fall foul of our constitution.
My Policies:
I think Azerzia does an excellent job as Speaker hence the nomination.
I think there are additional opportunites for us which the Speaker can support.
We must ensure that members of our region abide by our constitution. Steps are now being taken to send out messages to those who don't and we need to ensure that we do this regularly and efficiently. I would like to see more direction from the Cabinet on this issue.
We need to also make sure that Forum lists are up-to-date so nations that have ceased to exist or who have left for a new region are removed from the Forum list.
I am keen to see our region to expand its diplomatic horizons but only to those regions who share our beliefs and philosophy. I am not keen on entering into a relationship with the LI and would rather support a more centre-left aligned grouping in its place.
As one that believes passionately in the ideals on which the SLU is based, I intend to continue championing the region. Members from within need to be encouraged to contribute and to get involved and this is where communication is so important - I believe it to be one of my greateat strengths.
Those are just a few brief comments on what I have done for the SLU in a relatively short space of time and a few ideas on how we can achieve more in the future.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask :D
