OCEANIC ATOLLS FOR DELEGATE
"Take a chance on me"
In the upcoming election, I, Oceanic Atolls, will be running for the position of Delegate. I might not seem to be a likely choice, but I hope that over the course of this brief message, I can show you, the people of the Social Liberal Union, why you should for me. I may not be the obvious choice, but I can assure you that I am the right one.
Commitment
As I am sure many of you are well aware, Oceanic Atolls is a long-standing and well-respected member of this region, having been a member of the Social Liberal Union since January of 2013, in fact. In this time I have shown on multiple occasions that I have a serious commitment to the security and well-being of this region, as well as of our inter-regional allies. For example, this fine nation proudly assisted in repelling raiders from the allied region of Coffee House, and played a solid role in the zombie defence efforts led by current Minister for Domestic Affairs, the United Democracy of Scientists, which also led to my appointment as Deputy Minister of the same department.
Transparency
As your Delegate, Oceanic Atolls promises to bring unprecedented levels of transparency to any and every decision-making process for which it is in my power to do so. This will be achieved through regular updates on the current status and relevant points of discussion regarding all major pieces of legislation being discussed by the region (excepting, of course, in cases where this cannot be elucidated upon for reasons of regional security). In doing so, I hope to bring more and more members of this region into the decision-making processes and help to create a more politically aware and active region, as well as attracting new members to the region.
As a part of this effort, Oceanic Atolls proposes a plan to use technology given to us by virtue of living in the internet era to bring decisions to the people - in other words, if elected to Delegate, we would distribute major decisions (i.e, those that affect everyday life for members of our region) to the people, using Regional Polls. By doing so, we would create far greater opportunities to achieve full representation within our region. An admirable goal, and one that aligns with the region's socialist values.
The Plan
This is the point at which a lot of you want to know what I actually aim to achieve for the region, and fortunately for us both, this is the point at which I've created a helpful list to tell you just that. How serendipitous, hm?
- Regular Updates on Governmental Processes
- Use of Regional Polls in Major Decisions
- Greater Co-Operation Between Branches of Government
- Increased Government Activity
- Increased Regional Population
- Increased Forum Activity
- Re-Organisation and Consolidation of Regional Records
- Improved Regional Security
- More Inter-Regional Co-Operation
...as well as a happy medium between the levels of glitz and humour displayed by Ceni and Avaerilon.
That wraps up what I want to say, and I apologise for making this thread so late - I've had quite a busy time, recently. To conclude, I'd like to thank everybody for taking the time to read through this post, and to remind everyone - in this election, vote Oceanic Atolls for YOUR Delegate.
