What does this means for you?
I am an experienced and active part of NationStates and our community. I work hard and have always been involved in our region in some capacity and have been influential in how it has been built. You can count on me to work hard and do what I can in any position I hold. Our region is only strengthened by increased activity and I am very active in it. I have written or co-written much of the region's legislation, from the Constitution, to defining what Ministries exist, to how elections are counted. All of this matters to how our region operates and I have always been a part of it.
Positions
The Speaker of the Union has three primary jobs: first, they must act as the liaison between the Cabinet and Parliament; two, they must organize the forum so that it is easily navigated and accessible; three, to intelligently use its limited executive control (such as tie breaking votes in the Cabinet and delaying implementation) so that they best serve the region. I will facilitate these three by doing the following:First, I support the creation of more transparency in the thought process behind the actions taken by the Cabinet. An important step was taken by Grolsch in his weekly updates to the region, but they tend to tell of the results of decisions. I propose weekly messages to the Open Parliament, written either by myself in my capacity as liaison or by the Secretary of Communications, which give the overall trends of thought in the Administration and issues that are non-defense related.
Second, the forum needs to be cleaned up. I applaud NAR in his sensible changes to the forum, but work still needs to be done. There are a great number of out-of-date tutorials and help guides which need to be cleaned out.
Third, I will use powers only as needed. It is the executive of the region who should exercise executive power and should be trusted to do so. If they break that trust, then legal action must be taken.
Connected to that third goal, we must get the Court of Justices off the ground. I will move forward and appoint a Parliamentary Justice who will best serve the region. Also related to that third goal of using power, and more specific, I intend to nominate states for their rightful place in the Ainish Order of Merit. No state has yet been nominated and there are several who deserve such a position. This is not an executive power, but rather a privilege given to me by the Open Parliament and I will, of course, discuss such matters with the Cabinet.
Final thoughts
In closing, I am looking forward to serving this region, our region, in the future in whatever position the Open Parliament and the government thinks I am best suited for but I hope you will all consider me for Speaker. At this time, I would like to ask everyone to post any questions or concerns that they may have. Any questions related to my opinions about how the government operates or separation of powers, in broad terms, can see the PLR Program. More specific questions are welcome.
