The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to ask the people of this region whether they support a closure of the embassy with League of Tides. The Deputy Minister alleges that the League of Tides is too far right wing for the views of the SLU, and that they no longer meet the requirements to hold an embassy under SLU law. It is also worthy to note that they have not sent over any type of ambassador, nor shown any sort of interest in close relations with the SLU. If you agree with this assessment, or believe the SLU should close their embassy with League of Tides for any other region, please vote yes. If you do not agree that this embassy should be closed, please vote no. If you do not agree with this either way, please vote "abstain." On behalf of myself and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Millyland, thank you for taking time out of your day to vote. Eggy216, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Voting on this proposal will end automatically in 7 days from the time of this posting

I think that I have to determine the time of closure and if that's the case I will retroactively approve of one week. In any case, I agree.

I don't think this is required to close an embassy. Isn't it only required that the Minister and Delegate agree on it? This is merely to advise the Ministry of Foreign Affairs how to proceed.
I could be wrong though. The constitution has been changed so many times, and I've been in government here for longer than anyone else so I often get confused by what's currently true and what used to be. Lol.

I'll take another look, but I sort of remember something from my now-defunct MEPA that may have been transferred to the Constitution.

Yeah, er...relevant: Section 3. The minister for foreign relations and World Assembly Delegate, upon considering the wishes of the Open Parliament and bound by the requirements of this Article, determine which regions and organizations may maintain an embassy with the Social Liberal Union. So, uh, someone (you) brought up this proposal in the Open Parliament and whatever the region wishes (per the poll) is what the minister for foreign relations (you) and the World Assembly Delegate (Grolsch) need to follow. There's no legislation regarding how long the OP needs to set the poll for, so I guess you're fine.

Eggy is right, but the reason we're doing it here through Parliament is because we want as many members as possible to be actively involved, so your input is appreciated as well, NAR. :D

I would also like to mention that they do not meet out 1/4 WA Member standard.

Not saying that I disagree with closure, but by that requirement, our embassy with the UDLR would have to be closed.

The UDLR is not a real embassy, as it is not a real region :P

But it counts as an organization, which is affected by Article 12.

From what I can see, it doesn't set standards for organizations.

Actually, it does (Article 12, Section 2; I would think that it counts as a foreign organization), but the requirements are different, sorry.

If they do not meet WA requirements, then they don't meet embassy requirements and it should be withdrawn. League of Tides- NStracker

As the ambassador for the League of Tides, I must say I agree to close the embassy. Reason #1: they have turned more to the right-wing. Reason #2: I telegrammed the founder and delegate about being their ambassador from the SLU at the beginning of my job, and never had a response. These reasons are good enough for me to vote to close it.

This passed with 70% in favor, 20% against and 10% abstaining. Therefore, the embassy was closed today.
