Hi there, everyone! I'd like to take this opportunity to explain why you should... RE-ELECT AVAERILON! Who are you?I'm Avaerilon, the current Minister of Domestic Affairs. I've been a member of the SLU since the 13th of July, 2011, when I first started playing NationStates. I've been elected 3 times so far, without losing my position. Last time, I won 80% of the popular vote. All-in-all, I'm probably the most experienced person in terms of Domestic Affairs. Experience? Prove it.Barack's right to trust me; attention-to-detail is one of my strengths. It's attention to detail which gives nations the best possible experience on the forum. Notice the symbol on the SLU flag? Well, it wasn't always that way. We had a nice but rather low-res one not too long ago. I proposed a change, and now look: we have a higher-definition symbol that many people feel truly represents us and our collective identity. But my resume isn't just based-on flags. Oh no. Here's a list of the qualifications I have as your Minister: - Creator of the HD, highly-detialed Regional Map
- Creator of the most successful "Council of Leaders" role-plays in the region
- The only nation to use videos like this and this to advertise our exciting forum activities
- Helped communicate the plans of the newly-elected Delegate, Grolsch, via this campaign video
- Operated some of the biggest forum clean-ups to ensure clear and easy navigation of the website
- Regular joke contributor to the SLU Weekly Journal
- Wrote and co-wrote numerous pieces of crucial and successful legislation, much of which has been included in the new constitution
- Leader and creator of the Welcome Team, which welcomes new members of the region
- Created and overseen numerous tutorials to assist newcomers to NS and the forum
- The most active poster on the forum
- Able and willing to communicate in different languages, if needs be
Fabulous! What are your plans for Domestic Affairs? We've seen a lull in forum activity over the last couple of months. Now, re-invigorated by the delegacy elections, I feel we should take advantage of the renewed life and ensure more nations, especially new members, feel happy to take-part in our numerous activities. I also want to make Role-Play more slick, efficient and enjoyable. - PARTICIPATION AND MENTORING:
- Create a dedicated, "News Ticker" thread, to regularly update members on regional happenings in a quick and concise manner.
- Advertise our role-plays, activities, news and events as often as possible on the RMB, and on the proposed News Ticker thread.
- With the SLUWJ editor-in-chief NAR, organise a regular submission of articles from members of the SLU, with £ given for successful submissions.
- Rejuvenate the mentorship committee;offering incentives to join and help mentor new nations. Ask new nations, one week after their arrival, if they've joined the forum or if they need any help.
- Expand the Welcome Team to ensure no nation is without a formal welcome from their fellow SLUans.
- Introduce a selection of brief and concise tutorial and how-to-videos to ensure everyone knows how the whole forum works.
- Implementing competitions, to inspire nations to take-part and compete on the forum.
- Host a regular "goof-off" chat on the forum chat room, so everyone gets to know each other more easily and even make friends.
- ROLE-PLAY:
- Invite members to submit ideas for role-playing, and to create them for the region to participate in.
- The creation of a group to refine and implement a text-based game that takes NS further
- The addition of new kinds of role-plays, such as the prose-type "traditional" ones on the NS forums, war games fought using NAR's "Battle Engine," and situational scenarios similar to table-top role-playing.
I'm falling asleep, sorry. Anything else to add?Only that, regardless of who you vote for, you make sure you do vote in this election. Domestic Affairs is crucial to the running of the forum, and ensuring the nations of the SLU get as much as possible out of life here. Hope you're having a great day, and thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

How much did you pay Obama to say that? Have you even meet him? And more importantly is your internet connection fixed?

Oh, me and Barry are friends; he did it for free. Well, a beer and some Doritos, you know how it is... Yes, I just had tea with him! Just about ;D It only gets interrupted by my flatmate playing WoW, but it still runs even when he's playing that. Finally :)
