VOTE GROLSCH FOR DELEGATE
After a period of semi-absence, Grolsch is back in the running again for the Delegacy. With more enthusiasm and energy than ever, we present to you our plans for the future.
Campaign video: Fasten your seatbelts
This thread is split in two sections: Why Vote Grolsch and The Plan.
Why Vote Grolsch
1. Experience in Everything That Makes our Region Great
Grolsch has held senior positions in three out of four ministries. An unprecented record of performance and friendlyness towards (almost) everyone.
- 1 term as Minister of Immigration
- 1 term as Deputy Minister of Immigration
- 1 term as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Founder and former Chief of the Ministry of Defence's Combined Union Security office, the SLU's intelligence agency
Having contributed to the forum in a variety of threads on everything from legislation to role-play, Grolsch is one of the SLU's active members. He knows what makes this community tick.
2. Direct and Open Democracy
A social-liberal, Grolsch believes in the power of open, direct democracy. As a consequence of this belief, he published weekly reports on his work as Minister of Immigration on the SLU's regional message board and regularly participates in discussions.
When elected Delegate, Grolsch will continue his open democracy stance and will publish weekly reports on Cabinet activities on the region's regional message board as well as on the forum. Also, when members can vote for anything, it'll be announced on the regional message board more actively.
3. Separating Legislature and Government
The legislature should create laws, the government should act in accordance with them. Government should not create the law themself, as this would result in a government with extraordinary power: not only can it govern a region, it can also dictate what is legal and what is not.
Grolsch, having some but not too much exposure to SLU lawmaking, can ensure a healthy balance between the legislature and government. A real-world law student, Grolsch is able to act on the mandate given to him by the SLU's Parliament.
4. A Global Citizen
Grolsch was the region's first Deputy Minister and Minister who doesn't have English as his first language. He likes to talk to people from other cultures and enjoys working with them. The Social Liberal Uniun is a melting pot of a variety of cultures, why not vote for a global citizen?
The Plan
Defence
- Create a more independent judicial system
- Increase the speed of prosecutions, while allowing defendants enough time to prepare their statement(s)
- Increase surveillance activities throughout NationStates
- Talk to friendly regions about defence strategies
Domestic Affairs
- More focus on mentorship, so new members immediately feel at home
- Highlight active discussions in weekly regional message board reporting to increase forum activity
- Revitalize role-play
Foreign Affairs
- Revitalize the UDLR (regional cooperation w/ DSAssembly and DSAlliance)
- More embassies with regions aligned to our own region's values
- Involve Foreign Affairs in Combined Union Security (CUS) operations with Defence, combining knowledge of far lands, resulting in higher-quality intelligence
Immigration
- An active immigration ministry
- Create incentive for new Recruiters to join, through awards, cookies, stroopwafels or otherwise
- Continue reporting on offenders, but divide the workload
- Membership growth is good, but new nations aligned to our Constitution and values are great
- Crack down on non-complying non-members (SLU nations who never have complied to the Constitution)
Questions are welcome!
