Welcome to the campaign of the Free Land for a return to the Social Liberal Union's World Assembly Delegate position! I know what you're thinking: "Why now?" The answer is simple: We stepped down because we thought others should have a chance to use their ideas to make this region greater, and after two terms as Minister of Foreign Affairs, we want to help the region as delegate once again! Nothing beats experience! At 323 days, we have the longest delegacy in the history of the Social Liberal Union. During our delegacy, we saw the creation of a new constitution, the return of our founder, aided in the split between the Democratic Socialist Alliance and Assembly due to the abuse of power by the Alliance founder, and the rise of the Union to the position of world superpower. Following our numerous terms as delegate, we immediately became Minister of Foreign Affairs during the Delegacy of Azerzia, a position we still hold today. We have acted as ambassador to numerous regions, perhaps most importantly to the UDLR, where we became the first chair of the Union Council. Within the SLU and abroad we have drafted numerous laws, including: B-17 SPOT (Prevention of Ties Act)A-1 Amendment to the Executive Cabinet Act (Outdated)Co-author of SPAM (Social Liberal Union Prevention of Annoying Messages ActUCP #1: Chair of the Union Council Rotation Policy (UDLR) Co-author of Alliance with the Democratic Socialist Assembly with then-Assembly-delegate Bazlantis. We were also recently recognized for our service to the Union with a commendation (M-2 Commend Eggy216)While we generally prefer to give the cabinet members full jurisdiction over their respective departments, we have some ideas we would like to see enacted during our delegacy. This is the area where the Free Land has the most experience, and where we believe the delegate should take the strongest lead - as a representative to foreign regions. We will take a strong lead in reforming the department of Foreign Affairs along with the new minister, solving many of the problems we have seen as Minister. Primarily, we will organize a system through which all ambassadors will be required to provide a report to the minister of Foreign Affairs about the happenings of their region during that week, even if the report is solely stating that no important events occurred during that week. The reports will be compiled by the minister, and then reported to the delegate to be presented to the region along with reports from all other departments - similar to the organization under the current delegate. For World Assembly voting, I would like to continue the system Cowardly Pacifists and myself have put into place, and continue summarizing and analyzing World Assembly resolutions for the region. This job would fall to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to do for each resolution that is presented to the World Assembly. When voting for World Assembly Resolutions, we would follow the pattern that the region has shown while voting and in the discussion that takes place both on the forum and the Regional Message Board. We would like to pursue embassies more strongly as delegate than I did during our past terms as delegate. We will only agree to construct embassies with regions of similar values to the SLU, in accordance to all laws of the Union as well as the views of all members of the region. While I don't personally take part in most of the roleplaying we have here in the SLU, it doesn't take much effort to see that those who do LOVE it. It's probably one of the greatest assets we have as a region. I personaly would like to change one thing though - most of our RP is politics based. By concentrating so much on that one area, are we not missing a whole group of people who want to take a break from the political world of nationstates and RP with their friends? I would push for different types of RP, like the Pokemon one I've already been trying to start. I'd also like to see a resurgence of our sports leagues, which started with hockey and football last year. Mentorship hasn't been as active since it was first created. I would like to see this program revived again so we can help out newer nations, and that way those who come to the region without a knowledge of either nationstates itself or just of the region, we can help them out and they will be more like to stay here and help us grow and prosper! I do not want to change the immigration system too greatly. We have generally seen a steady increase in membership due to the hard work done by both the minister of Immigration and the recruiters. Rather than make large changes to the system, I would like to work alongside the ministry of Domestic Affairs to award sluans to the "recruiter of the week," the award started by the previous minister of immigration, Cemaes. This should result in more people joining the ministry as recruiters, as well as those recruiters pushing harder to get members to join the region and increase our membership. We would also get directly involved in recruitment and the welcoming of new nations, to ensure the SLU never falls from its position as a world superpower - and the largest liberal/socialist region in the world! I would like to continue with the way defense is organized under the Azerzian administration. The CUS system has worked perfectly on numerous occasions in the past, the judicial system functions fast enough that we aren't waiting months before an offending nation is ejected, and nations who can't represent themselves are represented by an attorney of sorts. From what I've seen the system runs smoothly, and I don't want to change anything here! Comments? Questions? Concerns? Death Threats? If you have any of the first three, please post them here. If it's the last one, please contact my friend, Mr. Barack Obama, by sending a letter to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C., USA. Thank you very much, and remember:

Ok. Well, you asked for this, so here goes:
What would you change from the very laid-back attitutde of your past terms as a Delegate, if so? If not, do you think you can respond adequately and timely to emergencies and how do you ensure you will be able to do so without meddling to much in the goings-on in the Ministries?

Haha I did ask for it, and I'm glad you responded :D.
I would definitely get more involved this time within each Ministry. I would begin aiding in recruitment efforts under the Ministry of Immigration, assist greatly in the mentorship effort within the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, work closely on the prosecution of offending nations (a process which is hopefully less and less necessary in the future) in the ministry of defense, as well as in the running of CUS investigations (when needed), and finally I would work very closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enact many of the reforms I have seen as necessary in this past term as Minister.
As far as being able to respond quickly to emergencies without meddling too much, I would just keep in close contact with all ministers so that if they need me they can access me easily, and I will be able to aid them in the capacity they see fit. I will also keep a close watch on each of their respective departments to ensure that no problems are missed, and if I believe action needs to be taken I will confer with the minister prior to taking said action if possible. If the issue is a great emergency that must be acted on immediately, I will take said action and get retroactive approval from the minister (for example what appears to be a raid attempt), and the open parliament of the SLU.
Does that answer your questions? And you can have this because you were the only one brave enough to ask either of us a question (::)

I gave Millyland a question and I will give you another one :)
I joined this region 2 days ago but I never received a welcome or "go to the forum and introduce" or whatever message. I don't know if this is always the case, but if it is not, would you change that? I think sending a personal message to a new inhabitant is the very first step towards activity.

Sorry, Eggy, but I need to explain something first and then you can respond. Zmon, due to a conflict between the Ministry of Domestic Affairs and the Ministry of Immigration involving the welcome telegrams, the person in charge of sending them on the Domestic Affairs side (I) did not send them out. Since you remark that you have not received a welcome telegram, I can infer that the Ministry of Immigration is no longer sending them out either, in which case I shall be sending them out again.

Thanks for the question! As NAR pretty much just stated, usually welcome telegrams are sent out, but have switched between DA and Immigration's roles. I would definitely want to continue sending out welcome TG's to new nations, something that I believe should fall under the department of mentorship in DA. Additionally (NAR, this is for you) if immigration was supposed to be doing this right now, keep in mind that Grolsch has been very busy and I believe was in the hospital for a few days.

Yeah I know, but this was before. I'll get into contact with Imm again and see if they've suspended their program. I just didn't want to start spamming new nations with different telegrams saying pretty much the same thing. I wonder how he's feeling.

Yeah I know, but this was before. I think Grolsch's absence intersected with Zmon's arrival. . .I could be off by a day though.

I was gone Thursday, Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday, as well as most of today. No, I don't send Welcome TGs, but apparetly, DA doesn't do so either. I do send a TG to new forum members, unless I have to approve a very large number due to absence, in which case I post a message on the RMB and re-post is as many times as needed to keep it visible for at least a day.
You have answered my questions, Eggy. Thanks. (::)
