Situation Report: Sitting Ducks
Greetings and welcome to this Galactic Council of Leaders. I'm sorry to report that your first task is not an easy one, or a decision to be taken lightly. Various space telescopes have detected thousands of asteroids heading- it seems- for a crash course with various SLU planets and moons. To attempt to destroy them would be futile- they are far too large for anything to effectively destroy, and are moving at great speed.
It would seem then, that the only thing you can do is prepare for an imminent strike by these asteroids. How you do this is up to you.
These asteroids could have severe effects upon your worlds; a small one could kill as many as a million people, should it strike an urban area. Then there is the risk a strike could cause tectonic activity such as earthquakes, or even "awaken" dormant volcanoes.
Leaders, what do you plan to do to? Post your responses below to affect the next response from High Command.[/b]
Remember, the situation will be updated randomly; do not delay your next move!

Several asteroids are looking to hit our capital planet of Asgard and one at Nymitgard (Asgard twin planet) our fleet is currently trying to blow up the smaller asteroids but we have a asteroid whit the size of a moon. How ever that asteroid is moving at a lesser speed then any other asteroid. We will try to send down drill teams to drill the asteroids surface and plant a Planet cracker. It should blow up the asteroid into smaller pieces.
Update
there are to many asteroids to manage for our fleet. And i think our planets defense network also might not blow up all asteroids before they impact.

Admiral: Status of the drill team. Sublieutenant: they done sir. Admiral: Great tell them to evacuate. Sublieutenant: They are already on their ship and have entered FTL. Admiral: Alright patch me to the fleet. Sublieutenant: Patching through. Admiral: This is Admiral Ross to all ships, prepare to fire Javelin torpedoes on my mark. Sublieutenant: Fleet is ready Admiral. Admiral: How long to the bomb detonates. Sublieutenant: 20 seconds Admiral: Putt a countdown. Sublieutenant: 10 seconds 9...8...7...6...5...4...3..2..1 Bomb explodes riping the huge asteroid in to million pieces. Admiral: All ships open fire Fleet open fire hundreds of blue torpedoes impact the asteroid debris. Admiral: Second salvo now. Sublieutenant: Several large pieces destroyed Admiral. Admiral: Good prepare a third salvo and target larger ones first.

Only the outer planets of the E.A.F are under threat. The core worlds of each system have extensive urban shielding, however these will be no protection against the larger ones. PBD annihilator is on route to the "master asteroid" it's rail-cannon will destroy it easily. However the others are too small, dense and fast to hit with the railcannon. Hopefully our shields will hold...

At this point, we are conducting mass evacuations on all our potentially effected planets. It is a hard decision to make, but we are concentrating on major infrastructure firstly. While it is with deep regret that I must announce we will have a casualty rate of 50% or more, the Galactic Council of the Federation of Portegria has decided that in order to remain stable, we must value our assets and save what is most important.
In addition, our scientists have been put to work in order to ascertain a method that would minimize casualties to our planets. Perhaps an international coalition of scientists could potentially be of more efficiency.

EUREKA! We have devised a viable solution! (Sort of)
While our fleets are engaging and attempting to obliterate all smaller sized asteroids, we still have 3 moon sized rocks making their way towards Portegria Nova, Pitium, and Ragnor 3. The asteroid that is about to make contact with Portegria Nova in a number of hours is too close to be drilled and split into smaller asteroids. Thus, our scientists have devised a plan to collect a massive number of worthless ships and simultaneously ram them into the side of the asteroid. The ships will be filled with large amounts of Osmium--one of the heaviest elements in the world. Hopefully this will create enough inertia to send the asteroid on a trajectory that skims our planet.
We would recommend this alternative, but there is one major drawback. When the asteroid is knocked off course, it is likely to be put into Portegria Nova's gravititaional field. It will become a satellite of the planet. Ironic isn't it? The moon sized asteroid will become a moon. Jesting aside, this will be a huge issue for the planet as nearly 85% of the planet's surface is D2O. It is unforeseen how the addition of a satellite will affect the tide. We will keep you posted.
Secondly, what kind of technology are you guys using to destroy these asteroids. All our attempts to destroy these seemingly indestructible rocks have proved to be epic failures.

We can send the PBD annihilator to destroy the asteroid headed for ragnor 3 or pitium, it's done all it can for us.

Not at all! But do try and create an "all-encompassing" plan in one post; this makes it more fun when the situation changes.

With our colony on Michelsen Prime growing steadfast, any impacts could be a large setback environmentally, and we have yet to test our shields against something of this magnitude, so we will not ride on it.
As WT44-18, aka Michelsen Prime, is a giant planet, it makes the chances for impact increase due to our large target and high gravitational pull. A space rock the size of Mars is heading towards our orbit so we are growing very worried for our colonists, as an impact of that magnitude could be catastrophic.
How to avert this disaster is under great confusion as this massive rock has so much mass and speed that its trajectory and structure will be nearly impossible to change.
Our only demolition plan is to attempt to vaporize the asteroid into gas particles. We will attempt to do this by super-focusing the light from our sun to the asteroid using equipment attatched to our MAB fleet. The insane heat generated by this onto the rock should at least vaporize enough mass to keep this from being a planet-killer, and hopefully we can eliminate it all together.
Contingency plan should it hit; we do have a shield system around our colony, which should protect it from virtually anything. As for the rest of the planet, we are prepared to control global fires, but there is no way to stop tectonic activity.

Three ships from Mal Terrik have already arrived and have started setting up the force shield barrier.

And it may be a problem if the shield collapses as one ship uses Vactinium, which is like uranium as fuel.

The Anihilator is still standing by to assist, the torpedo it's rail cannon fires splits up as it passes through the target, these chunks then explode after the torpedo leaves the target

Situation Report: Sitting Ducks
Greetings and welcome to this Galactic Council of Leaders. I am afraid that while the asteroid strikes were prevented from decimating entire worlds, they have killed many. Some passed over defences, some were unaffected, others turned into missiles which passed through atmospheres and struck planets, and some ploughed-into evacuation ships.
However, it could well have been worse. It seems that the asteroids did not hit any central points of any settlements. This could only be good news, especially since some disturbing new information has come to light.
Scientists testing the asteroids for mineral content were overcome with the symptoms of some horrifying disease, which rendered them weak, and paralytic. Many of these asteroid particles landed on or in close proximity to rivers and other water sources. It is feared that entire worlds will be contaminated by the illness, although no-one has died from it, yet.
Newhalla:About 5 asteroids hit Asgard, and 3 Nymitgard, and although none struck a central urban area, over 16,000 people are known to have lost their lives. You successfully detonated the moon-sized asteroid, but the particles from it hit outlying moons, not a par of your empire. As a result, the governments of these moons are demanding an apology from Newhalla, and its assistance in helping them to rebuild. Furthermore, the asteroids appeared to land in the sea, which has caused great concern that the whole realm will become infected quickly. Many fishermen are refusing to go to work.
Equum Alatum: While none of your inner planets were struck, plenty of your outer realms felt the full effect of the asteroids. Not only were over 20,000 killed, but a stream of refugee craft is making its way to your capital city, numbering up to a million people. Many of these appear to be sick with the illness. Some in your federation have questioned whether spending all those billions of Denari on the rail gun was worth it, if so many still died. They have organised into a powerful body, critical of the federation's government.
Portegria: The Pegasian rail gun managed to destroy one of the more threatening asteroids, and your plan to utilise the ships proved effective. However, you still lost a huge number of people; the number has yet to be determined. While the largest asteroid did not become a moon of the D2O rich planet, it did fracture in the atmosphere and scattered tiny fragments across the planet's liquid surface. Scientists are baffled at why it split so easily. With the huge casualties, including military convoys hit by asteroids, Portegria's space colonies are looking increasingly like easy-prey for raiders.
Narglandia: The force-field proved effective against some of the larger and faster-travelling asteroids. Unfortunately, it ran out of fuel towards the end, and numerous smaller asteroids struck some of your main worlds. However, it appears the biggest casualty for you was your military. Around 50% of your battle-cruisers and fighter craft were obliterated by the asteroids. While still well-defended, this has started making the military nervous about conducting any non-defensive action. There is also a rumour going around that common soldiers are unhappy with their pay and conditions.
Michutopia: You utilised the power of your sun to try and destroy the gargantuan asteroid heading for Michelsen Prime. While the outer layer was destroyed and vaporised, the core still managed to strike the planet. It created a crater some 40 miles in diameter, and earthquakes registering up to 8 on the Richter Scale some 500 miles away. Some 52,000 people have lost their lives already in the earthquakes, which have levelled some smaller cities and caused raging infernos to hamper relief efforts. However, only the one asteroid struck your planet. Furthermore, scientists have found the core to be a pure metal that appears almost refined, as if it was manufactured. No traces of the crippling illness have been found.
Leaders, what do you plan to do to? Post your responses below to affect the next response from High Command.[/b]

The refugees have been redirected to an orbiting quarantine city, it houses and provides for them easily. We wish to remind the people that the rail gun destroyed the planet killer, and protected portariga. Many scientists have come to the conclusion after much experimentation, that the illness was engineered. And satalite scans show that after the planet killer was destroyed many of the other small asteroid changed their trajectory completely.

OK. Every time I do CoL, my stuff gets a negative response! Also, That military machinery can be easily replaced and we have some big allies in the outer rim of the galaxy. Also three species are in DIRE need of supplies after a meteor shower hit the third largest planet in the NST, Mal Terrik. the Rakatan, Bargawin, and Thestorotians are now numbering into the thousands because of the asteroids. at one point, thes three species were billions strong.

first space CoL and 50% of my space colonies population are now dead.
Update
miracle a team of geologist exploring the craters where the asteroids hit have found a entrance to a underground bunker that the Hallan government thought was destroyed. Over 10.000 people that was listed as dead (until now) was in the bunker during the asteroid impact. The bunker was built if a natural disaster would happen to the colony. How ever the Asgard authorities did never send the disaster alarm. It was in fact General Matti who warned the public about the immanent danger and opened the bunker. Around 10.000 people managed to get to the bunker before the impact.

newhalla dont cuss. The Nargish Commander of the Space Navy, Admiral Singleton, has been reported missing along with the whole tenth fleet. They were last seen on a mission to Avaerilonia Superior to stop some asteroids. oddly enough, they never arrived. something is fishy about these asteroids.

He didn't
The disease has been artificially created by technology we don't understand from an unknown source. There was a cure but the virus mutated in a day... Further inspection of the planet killer fragments revealed some kind of gravity control device. It was surrounded by an unknown metallic alloy. I recommend we mount a search in the area narglandia's ships vanished. The battlecruiser unstoppable is standing by to enter slipstream. On board it has four commando squads and three squads of the third elite battalion including Vet. Sarge. Marren herself and her squad!
