Helvurium's Campaign for Minister of Immigration
Hello, I am Helvurium and I have been your Deputy Minister of Immigration for the past term. This is my platform for extended service in the Ministry of Immigration. Hopefully, you all know who I am, and I trust you all have an immensely positive opinion of me so I will jump straight into what I'd like to see this Ministry change and continue to do.
Mass Telegram Stamps
As a student, money can often be tight and needs to be spent on other things like appeasing landlords. However, I hope to be able to put any extra money I have available into buying as many telegram stamps as possible. Mass telegram stamps are, in my opinion, the most effective way to recruit and the one which will see the SLU benefit the most. We have many people in this region, and in government, who have consistently offered their own funds to provide these mass telegram stamps and I hope to see this continue. Rewarding their contributions and making sure they are known will be something I will try my utmost to do and will discuss with other members of the cabinet and those who do donate to see which ways would be best in rewarding their contributions.
Firm but Fair
The Firm but Fair policy is one which is integral to the culture of the Social Liberal Union, and one which I will do my utmost to follow. I will stick to the letter of the policy, hoping to inform nations who need to improve their rights as soon as possible, as well as immediately ejecting those who enter with "Few" or lower political and civil rights. The policy has been a major part in forming the community that the Social Liberal Union has, ensuring that the vast majority of our Member States and Resident States agree with the values that we put forward. Our community is a diverse one, but it is one that is built on solid principles that the Firm but Fair policy aims to put forward.
API Recruitment
API Recruitment is one of the less effective forms of recruitment, but it is still invaluable to the region. I plan to use API Recruitment to help reinforce the mass telegram recruitment scheme, hopefully using it round the clock to make it as effective as possible. This will give our region another way to recruit and bring in more people, essentially making sure we can still recruit even in times where we are not readily able to purchase telegram stamps. Because of this, I plan to look for the most effective people to handle API Recruitment to have it run 24/7. My computer is often able to be left running, so it can be used to run any API program that the SLU needs. Consistent API recruitment is something that the Ministry should strive to continue, and I applaud the work done by those who have helped the Ministry in achieving this.
Manual Recruitment
Manual Recruitment, in my opinion, is the least effective form of recruitment. However, it is the most personal form of recruitment. It gives the recruiter a direct and personal connection with the recruit. Because of this, I will seek to establish a team of manual recruiters who will do their best to go out of their way and look for newly formed nations that meet our Firm but Fair policy requirements. These recruiters can also serve as welcomers to our region, helping new nations adjust and become a part of the region.
Welcoming
A big part of being in the Ministry of Immigration, and a big part of being a member of this region, is being welcoming. It is scary to join a new community and even scarier when you feel left out of discussions and left out of regional knowledge. I aim to make sure that those who do join this community, that do want to take part, are fully welcomed and brought into our fold. I feel as if I can easily do this through my experience of helping run student clubs and student associations, primarily with welcoming people and informing them of what is going on. This can easily be translated into the SLU and I hope I have the chance to do so.

Working with the Cabinet
If elected, I hope to continue being a productive cabinet member who is able to help the rest of the government in any way possible. As well as working with the Cabinet to ensure that our immigration schemes are going as smoothly as possible. The SLU Government is a team effort, after all, we're a group of friends. Keeping a positive dynamic in this area is of immense importance, and I hope I will have the chance to continue being a part of a great government dyanmic that exists here.
